During his Alumni tours when Dan Mullen was hired as head coach a UF, he had a story about this kid they didn't really need to try to hard to recruit. Talked about how this kid from Jacksonville showed up to a game and loved the atmosphere and how he got a ball from a player. Blah blah, that kid became their third Heisman winner.
The point is, it all goes together. And it is kind of a chicken and egg thing. Yes, win and people show up. But you still need create an atmosphere athletes want to win in.
Same goes with how out of control NIL is... we won't have a great NIL unless we win, but it will be hard to attract athletes without a good NIL.
I like that they're trying to do something, and realizing that what they have been doing hasn't been working, and are open to getting help.
