  1. That is great and all if being entertained 24/7 is your goal. I realized cable wasn't for me when I started writing my short and long term goals frequently. Having cable advances none of my goals except maybe family time which sometimes a family TV show can bring the family together, but Netflix and redbox suffice. I really miss ESPN and The walking dead and that's it, and each of these for only about 20 days out of the year, so the 80+/mo (960/yr) ESPN would cost is too much for 12 football games i can watch at bars and TV episodes I can buy for $40. For $1,000/year I'd get more enjoyment spending it on video games than cable. Also note the cost drop dramatically if living with roommates but I live alone. Once I move in with my future wife and we can split the rent and cable costs maybe I'll give it a look, but for now living alone I find the cost too high. Serious challenge for those reading, decide 8 -10 things you want to achieve in the next year, think big, and write them out, and then see if cable TV will help you reach any of them. Reach a certain income, start a business, finish degree, own a home, learn and instrument, travel to Spain, whatever, coach kids team to championship, own a Ferrarri, whatever it is, I bet cable TV isn't involved unless you want to be a TV show critic. Challenge accepted 1. Gain 20 lbs of bad weight 2. Get roped into watching all Real House Wives of _____ marathons with my wife 3. Be able to connect with quasi friends on facebook with pointless show related posts 4. Escape from income generating activities, diapers, and other important daily operations for 5+ hours a day 5. Test whether or not I can pump enough caffeine in me to counteract the lower energy levels I will have from watching TV 6. Enjoy less sex due to lower energy level and less deep conversations with significant other 7. Increase my exposure to more commercials in hopes of being better educated with new products/services 8. Create mindless zombie children by letting them stare blankly at a screen for 5+ hours a day I think maybe we should qualify television options by stage of life. i.e. If you have kids you are not going to a bar to watch games every week and spend excess cash on video games Yep. When you have an almost 1 year old and an almost 4 year old, you're willing to spend some money for cable since you're not going to be going to as many games in person or watch parties at bars.
  2. Hahaha. When I first read this, I thought you were serious. Good one.
  3. The consensus seems to be that the payers that are leaving are doing so because they're afraid of the hard work the new regime requires. You know something different? I know thats what we're all repeating. Has that actually been confirmed or is this just what we say after the old guy who's been losing leaves?
  4. Well since my original post was deleted... My response, which I stated was in all sincerity, was 2 animated gifs: One of Penn Jillette (of Penn and Teller) saying... in different a different manner... to be quiet. And one of Ari Gold from Entourage saying, also in a different phrase, to please leave. Feel free to look them up to get the full expression. It WAS a little over the top, especially given the recent and repeated requests for us to stop badmouthing each other ... You shut your god **** mouth!
  5. That's clearly theft. If they rebroadcast it for free, or for royalties, that's one thing. But they're making money selling something owned by someone else without compensation. It's no different from selling pirated DVD's If it was that clear, it wouldn't have made it all the way to the big show.
  6. http://www.npr.org/2014/04/22/305825566/startup-fights-tv-networks-in-copyright-case-before-supreme-court With this in mind, we should all keep on the lookout.
  7. Internets and bars will cover everything.
  8. We should turn Egbunu's thread into a Holtz bashing thread. It's been too long since we had something to blame on him.
  9. You are really going to quit on the Bulls because half the team was apparently a bunch of soft quitters. I will keep supporting them but right now I feel more embarrassed for anyone that was supporting the Stan Heath regime. After seeing how many and how fast these guys are quitting I think the decision to fire him was 100 percent justified, and I am excited to see what kind of USF BULLS that Antigua can bring in. So just curious. If you're a die harder since 1984, why did you wait until March, 2014 to become a member of TBP? He probably has a job. Boom!
  10. For the 10000000000th time: Nothing good can come from reading a teenager's Twitter account. NOTHING! Teenagers are 0-life on Twitter.

  12. Apparently, schools were only able to provide free food three time a day, in the form of meals at the cafeteria, and none to walkons. They recently voted to allow schools to provide snacks outside of normal mealtimes, something that has been on the table for years, but was blocked by the smaller schools for monetary reasons. It will probably end up being called The Napier Rule OMG! They only got three, all you can eat, meals a day? How is anyone supposed to survive like that? these are world class athletes that needs access to food(fuel) 24/7 how did their meal plan work on the road? or when schools arent in session? On the road, the get a per diem amount to spend on food. Which, by the way, was $18 when I was in school from 96-00. It's now $35. Comically more than enough to not go to bed starving. I spend around $150 a week on groceries for a family of 4. So that's about $10 less a day than Napier gets on the road.
  13. Last time I checked, no one rounded up football players in chains and sold them to the university. I must be mixing up my definition of slavery with another one.
  14. Ask Masiello what sort of difference those 5 minutes makes.
  15. I don't see the players that have left so far as irreplaceable. Although he had a few decent games, LeDay looked lost and in the wrong place a lot of the time on defense. Hawkins, for some reason wasn't developing as expected. His 4 ppg are easily replaceable as are LeDay's 3 ppg As far as not being a "win now situstion". My feeling is that even though there is some initial buzz about Antigua, there still needs to be a lot of improvement on the floor this year. There was a foundation of good players in place and is still here. Once the season starts that positive buzz goes away. It becomes about winning and losing. I maintain that if this team doesn't at least get an NIT bid this year the firing Heath was idiotic. And I know a lot of people like to compare it to the Holtz situation whenever a coaching change is made. The difference here is Holtz didn't get it done with a his core group of seniors his last year. That team had to be rebuilt. The basketball program already has many of the key contributors coming back and the foundation was set. The rebuilding was already begun. Bottom line is tesm needs to show improvement and start getting attendance up this coming year. Not 3 years down the road. Just wondering how you have your core group of seniors if you are only here 3 years??? The hatred for Holtz can't be bound by the space-time continuum.
  16. Anyone have a picture of the 64-12 scoreboard?
  17. If you saw her throw from behind, you're a lot more forgiving of it.
