  1. I know we didn't have many people there...but just for a moment it sounded like we had 50k in the stands...felt good to hear the noise. The defense just manned up and finished off the bearcats there. The defensive played beautifully last night.
  2. I have my season tickets pretty close to the entry way for the team. I enjoy standing next to watch the team come out onto the field. So today before the game and our pre-game show, I'm standing there watch various USF officials walk by. As it so happens, Dr. Genshaft walked out of the tunnel at that time. Now, I was in student government a few years ago, and we got to see Dr. Genshaft a little more often than the general USF populace. Keeping in that mind, it's been 2-3 years since I'd had any substantial contact with her. She recognized me. Unreal. A random student from 2-3 years ago and she remembers me? In a rather good mood about our university president tonight . Gotta love Judy.
  3. I watched the game on TV. I think we might have actually had more people at the game. It seemed roughly even at least.
  4. It's not like we'd be bringing him on without Taggart's consent...it's been proven that he's only a good head coach because he had some talent to work with at USC...and they got worse every year. What he has shown is the ability to develop quality quarterbacking.
  5. Perhaps it's a pie in the sky dream, but would it even be worth it bringing him on as a special consultant or something to work with the offense? He turned Matt Barkley into a pretty good quarterback, and even if we agree that Barkley was probably a better talent than anything we have on this roster, he did the same for Jonathan Crompton at Tennessee in just one year. Imagine what he could do for Steven Bench and Mike White. Or am I getting ahead of myself?
  6. I'll be at the UConn game. I just booked my flight. Would love to see some Bulls fans up there.
  7. It helps to be located in such a huge geographic area that produces so much great talent. Also, don't forget, the University of Florida was very scared of the geographic might of SoFla back in the 1950s-1970s, they resisted legislative efforts to put a state university in that area. At one point, UM was even considering affiliating with the state as a "State university" and we were blocked by UF. FIU boosters will try to tell you that UM similarly tried to block them from becoming a state school, but it was more the UF guys. There were a few UM guys who were perturbed about UF blocking us, and then the state doing an end-run and building a "new" state school in Miami, but those Gators really know how to protect their turf. That's why FIU had to be "International" and FAU had to be "Atlantic" instead of, say, UF-Miami or UF-Palm Beach. Now we just need to get an indoor practice facility (lots of lightning storms in SoFla, and it is apparently now on the Athletic Department's radar) and an on-campus stadium (still, for the most part, a dream, though we are secretly preparing for it with parking garages). I wonder if that explains how USF and UCF got incorporated at that time while FIU and FAU came into existence later. UCF was (unfortunately isn't this year) was a laughing stock for decades in football, and they had no legendary coaches to bail them out.
  8. In fairness, they were playing a bad Tennessee defense. Let's see what Murphy does against a defense that isn't so easy to carve like a Thanksgiving Turkey. Shaw would likely have 200 yards against the Vols.
  9. True, but just because Judy doesn't live there doesn't mean a future president won't. She won't be here forever.
  10. Glad to see the fire in his play. I hope this leads to something better for him. He has the talent, let's see if he can make something more for the Cowboys.
  11. DEFENSE WITH A HUGE PLAY! Beautiful defensive play after giving up a little bit. We need a touchdown here.
  12. DAVIS! Great pocket play by Eveld, great catch by Davis. That's the kind of play you want to see.
  13. Nice play defensively! Getting some good penetration, but we'll need to be smart. That said, has anyone ever seen WORSE pass catchers? Let's be grateful for that.
  14. Dude, how can you say that's the "best case scenario"? AAC/MWC will still be the Big East of BCS. A total laughing joke. Best case is for us in a legit conf. Because I really don't think we are going to the B12. Because honestly, I'd rather play the best of what the MWC has than several of the teams in the American as it is currently comprised. I don't know if you were dropped on your head when you were a baby or something else happened to you, but if you would rather be in the AAC/MWC leftover scrub conf than the B12 you have major mental problems. Just sayin And the part that is really scary to me. Imagine being with the leftovers with Cincinnati, UConn and or UCF all out and in better homes. I am not saying this will happen, but - when people say the "leftovers" aren't that bad ... they need to consider that some of the best leftovers might not be there. This board will explode if UCF somehow ends up in a better conference than us. Cincy and us, maybe, but UCF? Help us all. I do have a question though. What's the point of realignment if you're just going to make put all the big six schools into five conferences? There's no point in trying to consolidate if it's not really changing anything for the teams involved. Yes, the have nots will fall even further behind. But the haves will stay the same. The more things change, the more they stay the same? seems like it.
  15. My hope that it was an aberration. Let's see how he does on Saturday, if he takes those snaps correctly he ought to be okay.
  16. Maybe Baylor as well. They aren't the usual land-grand school but they're a quality academic school. I wouldn't be shocked to see them added.
