  1. What? He was a pro bowler, started for 3 different teams, and had a 10 year playing career. He wasnt some slouch. I agree Ant was better in the NFL, though.
  2. Yup. Ant, Mike, and Nate have been the cream of the crop and has the most staying power. Murphy did nothing and got drafted on his measurables. I expect Nichols to join the above 3. It's no given though.
  3. I loved completely shutting down Kevin Smith. I loved Severino scoring a TD. I loved the heat and sunburn that ensued but that nobody gave a **** and we sold out the stadium anyway. There's no reason we're not still doing that.
  4. That makes a lot of sense. They would name themselves after a chain located across the states.
  5. Uh, actually Florida is a huge cattle raising state, top 10 in the country. Much like that state who shares our hand signal. The Texas Longhorns. How many Knights have ever waltzed into Orlando?
  6. I drafted Mack but cut him. Going for him on waivers. Hopefully people still aren't paying attention...
  7. Miami losing looks like our only realistic shot of moving up this week. Meanwhile, NCST and SDSU are chomping at the bit to jump us. We need to win convincingly, particularly because people will apply the transitive property to our game since C. Florida just beat them down.
  8. That was a convincing win by NCST. Don't be shocked to see them jump us.
  9. It's so ******* annoying that we're one of like 3 programs that people can cite `actual attendance` on.
  10. I don't think anyone's (sane) definition would say Quinton Flowers > Jerry Rice. This is an asinine discussion. Some definitions are just WRONG. For that matter, he hasn't even offered a definition for what he means. If he comes out and says "Quinton is the best statistical player by volume" I'd agree with him. His statement was "Without a doubt the best player to have set foot on campus" which leaves a lot open to interpretation.
  11. Sure. Best is such a vague statement. If someone is going to claim Flowers is our "best" player ever it's only going to be based on recorded stats. Furthermore a QB is the only candidate position to ever be considered in this vacuum. I mean Flowers has more total yards than Jerry Rice in his junior and senior years. He's obviously better right? /Sarcasm Nevermind that a QB and WR have different levels of utilization and should he weighted appropriately. What's more, players play against different talent levels. I just think his argument is flawed. But if wants to claim he's the best based on stats, sure. I won't argue that. In the end, that argument doesn't hold water, though.
  12. There's chance of an exodus. Some of these coaches are being carried by a ton of talent, many of which will be gone this year. If year 2 has a big drop their stock may have a big fall as well ...
  13. After the Holtz New Era nobody should consider us spoiled. Before that, absolutely. Our spoiledness helped manifest in firing Leavitt*, which set the program back 5 years. Maybe more if you look at the impacts it has in retrospect. Would we be P5 now if not for the nightmare years? Would attendance be such an embarrassment? * Even ignoring the Miller situation he was getting a lot of heat. And that's just asinine. "hey coach of a 10 year old program that got us ranked the past 3 years... it seems you've plateaued"
  14. If you can't just intuitively say "Yes, Charles Woodson (no idea why I'm picking him) was a better college player than Flowers" despite "no way to compare them" then there's no point in me even having this debate because youre just being a Flowers homer. There's a lot more to "best" than high utilization and stats. I actually think Flowers has some merits to include those other things too. If Mack and Jenkins never played here (or JPP played here longer) he'd likely be that guy you're assigning him to be. I'm not trying to **** on Flowers. I'm trying to show you it's laughable to essentially narrow down "best" to QVs only, which is what you've implicitly done. But, to be fair, many fall victim to it too (see Heisman every year).
  15. QB's have high utilization rates, especially in college, especially if you're dual threat. If utilization/stats is your only criterion then literally only QB's can ever be in the discussion as best player. Is Charles Woodson a better player than Flowers? Not based on utilization or stats. But, he's an all-time great corner in football history. "Highest utilization" is not equal to "best". There's a reason Mack was our highest drafted offensive player in history and a reason why Flowers probably won't be drafted at all. Likewise, there's a reason Jenkins was a 1st rounder and pro bowler. He'd never get the "utilization" of a Flowers while playing at CB, but his mere presence stopped people throwing to an entire side of the field. Even though Trae Williams put up better "stats" because that's the direction the ball went. There's more to "best" than stats. But, yes, Flowers is our "best" statistical player. That's not the same as the most talented, the most skilled at his position relative to his peers, the most likely to succeed post-USF, etc. Mack and Jenkins very obviously held more of those qualities than Flowers does, IMHO.
  16. I think we drop a few spots simply by being on bye. If we drop 3 spots and they raise 4 spots. Yes, they'll jump us.
  17. UL vs. NCST is a zero-sum game. Whover wins will be above us.
  18. AFAIK definitely no pay games. We might do a 2-1 but not 1-0.
  19. I give Nichols the edge. He's a proven 3 year starter. Mazzi is 5 games proven. It was more commentary that Abraham isn't sniffing all american status
