  1. I'm glad that USF came to its senses... since USF is a commuter school a lot of students would have to cross the bridges, and IF it gets bad tomorrow this will be a major safety issue.
  2. No set in stone, but pretty accurate and they still have Isaac moving further to the West. Unless it makes a westward track for Mexico the Tampa Campus will have 40 mph gusts tomorrow and heavy down pours. Also why did USF just close Lakeland which is safer then Tampa, but leave Tampa open? If I was a student or parent I'd be pissed right now.
  3. I just got this from BayNews9... the carelessness by USF in regards to the threat that this storm poses is similar to the town in Jaws that refused to close the beaches. Hopefully nobody gets injured tomorrow or in a car accident... if they do they should sue USF for making them go to campus in the middle of a State of Emergency. I'm aware that tomorrow could be sunny and it could be a wasted day, but the odds of that are only 50/50 right now. If I was going to put a wager on peoples lives then I would not take that wager and just close down. This has money above safety written all over it.
  4. Most of the professors have been told to be lenient with attendance tomorrow and Tuesday because of the weather and traffic from the RNC. But looking at how the computer models are shaping up, Tampa is only going to get some nasty weather tonight and rain tomorrow. It's good that we're prepared, but this one is a party storm. The models are not set in stone... this storm can turn on a dime at any moment... that is why FIU closed apparently because they were concerned that the storm COULD turn and come across the state and hit them. This is a money deal... USF is concerned with $$ and not safety. I'm not alone in this check the USF Facebook page... the students are pissed.
  5. Also tomorrow is the first day of classes... man... I feel bad for all of those students that HAVE to go or get cut from courses... I even feel worse for the freshmen and for those that are going to get stranded tomorrow. I'm still in disbelief that USF would do something this stupid. Hopefully they change their minds and close...
  6. Well like normal USF has not failed to surprise... they are closing every campus BUT the Tampa campus... I have already heard that USF will also close Lakeland at 5PM, but not Tampa. So much for caring for the safety of its students, staff and faculty... especially those that have to drive across the bay and might not be able to get home if the FDOT closes the bridges.
  7. Here are my suggestions... take or leave it... (1) Increase tailgating hours... the reason why so many students, alumni, and fans fail to make it in the stadium for kickoff is because they are still trying to wrap up their tailgates. If we had normal tailgating hours like our in state brethren (UF, FSU, Miami, FAU, FIU, and UCF) then people would have more time to tailgate, and would likely be in the stadium come kickoff time. For example I don't know about the rest of you all but when I tailgate, I go all out and spend an ass load of money, and haul a bunch of gear down for the games. After paying $15 to park, an ass load of money on food, beverages, and even more time loading the truck, setting up the camp in the parking lot, and then rushing around to get things cooked before I have to pack everything up to run into the stadium gets to be a big pain in the ass. 5 hours sometimes is not enough time, and that is assuming that they give us a full 5 hours... sometimes its less then 5 hours and really depends on which TSA parking lot you call home. I have missed a few kickoffs because either I'm not ready to pack up the tailgate, or my buddies are not ready. So increasing the hours to 6-7 hours, which is only two hours more, would do a hell of a lot towards fixing the butts in the seats problem. (2) Maybe add extra seats in the open endzone concourse area for the games... atleast on one side of the stadium... I don't think you can add them to both with the pirate ship and all, also not really sure if this would be doable or how long it would take the Buc's to take down the extra seats before Sunday. I know a lot of people that buy seats and never sit in them because they hang back in the course areas and ********. I went back for one game a few years back to hang out with some people and honestly I lost track of the game and missed a lot of live action. When we get our own stadium this will be one issue that will be self correcting... until then I'm not sure what can be done about it. (3) Listen to the "Building Tradition" group would be a start... they have polled the fans, students, and alumni and these groups have clearly spoken about what traditions they want to happen. The reason why we lack really any traditions at year 16 is because the University tries to develop them on their own which is back asswards... its the students and alumni that start traditions, but since we don't have our own stadium its not like the students and alumni have free reign to get anything started given all of the security and restrictions of the TSA/Buc's. Lastly regarding the live bull the insurance to have one of these is very low... I called an insurance agent that writes policies for rodeo's at the St. Pete Times Forum and its only a few hundred dollars for one Brahma Bull that has been breed to be social around people. The price I got was $452 for a year... its really cheaper then a auto insurance policy for most. I also called the TSA yesterday and asked one of their directors and I was told that as long as USF has insurance for it, the it will be fine. So the insurance is not an issue, according to the TSA its not an issue, we have breeders who are willing to raise and train one... so to me its more of an administrative issue from USF's side... maybe the "powers that be" just don't feel like bothering with it.
  8. How much did these locker room upgrades cost... I'm not ******** on them and think that they are long overdue, just curious tis all...
  9. I don't think we said that we hated the towels, just that they were to expensive in comparison to TA&M, and that it was not original.
  10. +1 For me it would have to be win the Big East and win the BCS game as well...
  11. I agree... I vote for this one... I was told the same thing a while ago as well... had someone seek me out at an Alumni event and tell me that it was not true. The thing is my buddies that work in atheltics are telling me one thing and USF is telling me another. I guess we will know what they are up to if they try to redo Rocky... currently Rocky is grey which makes him a Brahma Bull... Brahma's are the only local bull that is grey, and is one of only a few bulls that are grey in the world. Meanwhile the Spanish Bull is black, so basically what I'm saying is that if they redo Rocky and make him look like the Chicago Bulls mascot then we will know my buddies are correct... if Rocky remains a Brahma then I guess its just all office gossip.
  12. Is this at RayJay or on Campus at the practice facility? If its at RayJay then someone at USF must have some interesting pictures of papa Glaizer to get him to let us have any space in his palace.
  13. Sometimes it is when the police are there telling everyone to get out. ^^^ This... last season I tried staying for the alma mater each game and each game a cop came down and told us its time to leave... when we did not listen they got very testy. They were not just telling my group but everyone. USF should do something about this crap... fans should be allowed to hang around for a while after the end of the game vs. being rushed out like, well a bunch of livestock
  14. The bulls in front of the Marshall center are Hereford, which is an English Bull The artist the University contracted out to build these statues was British... this is what happens when you hire people to make USF school spirit decisions that did not get their undergrad at USF. They're not Hereford Bulls. Look at these pictures: https://www.google.c...iw=1366&bih=612 Then compare to this: It has nothing to do with where the artist was from. You look at those statues, the one on the 2nd floor of the Marshall Center, and the one inside the Athletics lobby, and they are all similar to the Spanish Bull (I shouldn't have said common bull earlier). I was going off of an article I read a while back when we had our last mascot argument... the artist that designed the statues was quoted as saying that he got his inspiration from his native Hereford bulls... I really need to start saving this shiz to save me time looking for it again...

  16. You missed one: 5. Shut that guy up at the begining when the band is play... "Oooooh that's hot" Lord I hope that's been fixed this year... he's downright embarrassing as a representative of USF. I've asked about the running of the bulls thing.... too may people in high places like it... plus SBC likes it and now that they've pretty much officially eliminated the original Brahma Bull in favor of a more spanish type bull I doubt it's going anywhere. Common sense and school history be damned.... Since I was on the inside of the last live mascot deal from the perspective of the rancher, the live bull and the running of bulls thing are tied together. My rancher pal told me that a certain big money donor / sponsor is throwing a lot of money around to turn USF's mascot into a Spanish Bull. Thus why the University keeps doing the running of the Bulls even though people don't like it... the Building Traditions poll showed that people don't like it... also explains why we won't have a live Bull. My rancher pal who also owns a number of Beef's around the area said that the issue is not RayJay, the TSA, or the Buc's but is this donor and few people in athletics that pander to this group. Apparently this donor, not RayJay, does not want to see a live Bull in any shape or form. This donor does not want to see a live Bull because the live bull would be a Brahma and not a spanish bull which does not exist in Florida, and would ruin the plans of this donor. Now all of this is hearsay but my buddy is no slouch and have no reason to doubt him.
  17. He is a TV Executive... why would he leave the NBC deal to two consultants... he won't fire them, but I can bet that this new guy will do it his way.
  18. Not sure how much you guys want to party, but there is a private lot behind New Channel 28 on Woodlawn Avenue... there are less people in it, but this lot gets packed and is home to 3 very large USF tailgating groups. Main good thing about the private lot over the public lots is that the private lot is open all day and has no restrictions, where as the public lots have restrictions and are only open 4-5 hours before kickoff.
  19. Do you know what a University President does? A large % of their job duties is to negotiate deals and lobby for political items with the government. Dealing with the government is a lot more difficult then sitting down with some NBC executives. This is just laziness that costs the conference $$... the SEC or Notre Dame didn't bring in consultants to negotiate their cup cake TV deals, they suited up and did it themselves. i can't tell you how wrong you are... media deals are insanely complex and if i was commish of the big east... knowing this is the biggest moment in conference history... i'd hire people with a proven track record of success in this arena. How complex can it be... X amount of $ per game, for this sport, for X amount of years... I **** more complex things then that Apparently some time in your young life you're were traumatized by a consultant. It's okay .....We can help. Please tell us about the incident. This is how I felt when I read that we hired a consultant... But seriously its not the consultants I hate, its the lazy people running the Big East who ahve tricked everyone into believing that a TV deal is too darn difficult to negotiate, but these same people can manage to lobby Congress, various State Legislatures, go on crusades against Governors/very powerful corrupt congressmen, negotiate merchandise deals with various firms, sign partnerships with every possible company under the sun... but they can't work out a TV deal... its not a case of can't, but is a case of they are too lazy. My argument is mute anyway since the new BEast Commish is a CBS Executive... he will likely take over the negotiations from these two PAC12 clowns.
  20. I have not heard anything myself and I asked some of my friends that work in Athletics... apparently from what I have heard from my sources some of the brass has decided to ignore this "Building Tradition" group because (a) they did not think of it, and ( it runs counter to some of their own wishes. These are not my words, these are the words of my buds who work in Athletics. For example my buds told me that a number of the Athletics brass was not too happy that the "Building Tradition" polls showed that the majority of Bulls fans wanted a live Bull at games, increased tailgate hours, and other things. I hope that my bud's are wrong and that the brass is seriously looking into figuring out how to implement these things vs. ignoring this group and the voices of the fans.
  21. This is a good pick since he is a TV guy and knows how to negotiate contracts himself, market the conference, and make our brand more swagertastic.
  22. Its gonna be a nooner based on our crappy track record... I'm hoping that its a 7PM game or something but I seriously doubt it.
  23. I heard that they wanted RayJay to add extra seats and upgrade the stadium facilities a bit... it makes no sense because the Superdome is waaayyy out of date.
