  1. Sorry brah, there's a big difference in being in a conference that pays $20million + per school vs $1million per school. Hardly high school drama.
  2. And that could be part of the issue. If many divert their donations to an OCS, it would leave the general athletics fund lacking That's why I said "additional contribution" as in incremental. That's not what would happen, though. I along with many others would divert our funds to that project because it's sexy. It could end up being a pretty big blow to the overall athletics fund. In reality a few hundred $100 - $10,000 donations to such a fund would be meaningless. Most of which would probably be closer to $100 to $1000 dollars per donation. There would probably be a flurry of money that came in rather quickly. Probably something in the neighborhood of a couple of hundred thousand dollars to maybe over a million, but the truth is the funding would stall from that point with no concrete plans. It would defund a lot of other projects and it would be an insignificant amount of money for a 250-500 million dollar project. All that matters is the announcement and commitment to do it "at some point in the future" as funding allows. Right now there is no such claim. I realize it would take many years to raise the money. But like every project, you at some point just have to agree to start.

  4. Totally agree on all points. Let me ask you this, why can't USF make an announcement that we are committed to building an OCS and have started a fund raising effort. After a predetermined amount of private funds have accumulated, USF will seek incremental traditional types of funding,,. Something vague like that, it shows we support the idea which could be an advantage to the Big5 when they think about the future expansion... I agree with this completely. Nobody can really answer this question. Does anybody have Judy or Doug on record saying why they do not want to start a fund? Are there legal hurdles/tax issues with starting a fund and no plan? Do they feel people will give to the stadium fund instead of other projects? Do they just not want to be committed to the issue? I just do not know. If you call the foundation and say you would like to give them money for the sole purpose of going to a stadium fund, they will not let you. Granted if Morsani or Patel dropped a couple Million into the pot they would more than likely take it. Having at least a possibility of building an OCS, could also help with future RJS negotiations. When you have options you gain leverage, right now there is really no alternative for us. Yes! What harm does it do for the administration to say they have determined a location to place an OCS and are setting up a fundraising program with no specific timeline. It would show the commitment, encourage donations, provide hope for the future, and position us better with the Big5. If it takes 15 years to get it done right, so be it. At least we can show we are moving that way It would have no effect whatsoever on the Power 5 ... and I would guess that one reason for not doing it is that they need all the help they can get paying off the current improvements, maybe now moreso than ever with what's happening, and this could potentially do harm in that regard. Maybe you're right, but I'd make an "additional" donation to an OCS fund if there was one however...
  5. 2 steps forward. one step back. have faith. every successful person and program have faced adversity at one time or another. Miami went from almost shutting down program to an impressive run to win 5 NC in 20 years. and now they've come full circle as they are about to get shut down again... Ha!

  7. Official word is #1 Hold Breath #2 Count to a million backwards #3 Repeat
  8. This. This is the problem, and is exactly what I stated above. I lived in Delta (a cinderblock prison) and couldn't get out fast enough. USF needs to drop their prices and renovate the older dorms that are stuck in the 60's. When I was there, Delta was all girls...

  10. Because it would be pretty tough to go 3 weeks or so without a home game ... Men's team seems to be off for several weeks... Just sayin. Suggestion: Take that turkey off your head and open your eyes before engaging your keyboard. MBB is playing at the Dome at 7 pm tomorrow (12/17), on Friday(12/21) at 7 pm, on Saturday (12/29) , at UCF on January 2, and at the Dome on Sunday (1/6) at 7 pm. I think he was referring to their time off right now. The time between OSU and Youngstown has been fairly long. (Dec. 5th-Dec.18th) Thanks Hem, I was about to give him the business... Glad not everyone is asleep at the wheel around here.
  11. I think that turd bowl Yale calls a stadium looks like crap. Pretty sure sand doesn't pack like dirt either. Do it right, spend the $200 million. Somebody write a check. Where's our Phil Knight or T Boone Pickens? I know some of you guys must have fat stacks.

  13. Love those drills. They were about getting tough, competing, and building bonds with teammates. I wonder if coach T will continue the tradition of going Vero for team bonding or try something new
  14. All I know, is that when I was in school at USF many of the kids would go home to the east coast of florida on the weekends to get their laundry done... Not anymore. Many of them live off campus (College Court, Campus Lodge, 42North, etc) because the apts on campus are very pricey. If they built some nicer dorms (no Delta, Kappa, and all the other old ones are not nice) that were competitive with the private housing nearby, people would stay on campus. Nobody leaves on weekends b/c we are all at these apt complexes together, or the ones on campus do their laundry there. May be better now, but I lived in off campus apartments for 3 years and people still went home on the weekends. The dorms were even worse for people bailing on weekends, especially 3 day ones. I lived in Iota and other than the RA, the place was a ghost town sat and sun

  16. I graduated in 1990, it was definitely a commuter school then. I have continued to visit over the years and marvel at the improvements. This year my daughter is graduating from HS and has been looking at schools. She got accepted to FSU, UF, Miami, and USF. She got scholarship offers for each school. She chose USF based on how new and impressive our campus is. Yes USF is on 1500 acres while FSU is on 400 acres, making it tougher to get around, but she likes the feel of USF much better. Her opinion of UF was "too mant rednecks and the town sux". Miami was "too many foreigners and the town sucks". USF, close to the beach, good school, and brand new amenities. Things are definitely moving in the right direction. Go Bulls.
  17. Dizzknee keeps saying they are just, "leaving" and specifically saying they are not dissolving the conference for what it's worth
  18. UCant is not going to shut down its football program... LOL. Did you even read my post before replying? What did you expect with a person who has a profile picture of a raw chicken on his head. It's an Oregon Duck....
