We certainly don't, and when I say "probably a better than not chance," I mean like 55 - 60 percent. Any sane athletic director would not retain a coach who has struggled so much, but the fact that he went full court press on extensions for an underperforming athletic department makes me question his perspective. I'm all for stability, but sheesh, not like this. Going into Taggart's third year, Harlan made it clear that a bowl game was the expectation. I don't know that VPMK has set any expectations whatsoever other than "have patience." CJS will certainly paint him into a corner if we lose out the season, but with another win or two, I think VPMK can point to the injuries, "competitiveness despite adversity" of the team, look forward to a watered down AAC in 2023 and give him another go.
