  1. Holy crap...did you see that...head movement from a USF QB!!
  2. While its true that Shaw has averaged 100+/game Tice is on pace to do the same in the last two games. I dont think Shaw is 100% so this maybe Tice's chance to get more than 8 touches. DO SOMETHING! IMO Shaw has more top speed and experience, Tice is stronger and has better lateral movement, vision is about equal atm. Tice for most carries, Shaw for change of pace, Davis/Tice in jumbo packages. GAMEDAY! GO BULLS!
  3. lol. But its not as outrageous as some here may believe, SO LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!! There is several logical reasons for having Tice as the featured RB. 1) Shaw is most like not 100% Hamstring injuries are not good and can take upto several months and/or require surgery if the tear is severe. The fact that Shaw just started to practice is indicative of the severity of his injury. 2) Tice has the size for 20+ touches, Shaw built for more of a change of pace back Most of us had concerns regarding Shaw's durability in CT system, bc of his size, a generous 5'9" 178lbs, and his unfortunately injury can be used to argue that indeed he is not built for that many touches. Tice on the other hand is 6'0 205lbs. He is much more suited for the power run offense CT wants. 3) Productivity of the two backs recently is not that far off Shaw's last 2 games: Miami RUSHING No. Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg. SHAW, Marcus 20 131 4 127 1 44 6.3 Cinci RUSHING No. Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg. SHAW, Marcus 9 27 0 27 0 9 3.0 Tice's last 2 games: UConn and UL UConn RUSHING No. Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg. TICE, Darius 11 70 1 69 0 27 6.3 UL RUSHING No. Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg. TICE, Darius 7 44 3 41 0 24 5.9 4) Tice is the future I feel a little bad about this one since Shaw is a senior, but Tice is our future. In the end I respect what Shaw has done and its obvious he should have gotten more touches with the previous staff. I am not saying that Shaw should not continue to be part of the one-two punch; just he should be two and not one. He is an amazing speedster with great vision and should be used accordingly, if not only for the benefit of his current health status. I would hate for him to unnecessarily injure himself further. I go in peace
  4. I have seen some RBs and he has 'it'. Although Davis had that nice run @Uconn, I thought the coaches would be able to discern Tice is the better RB. I was a little disappointed to see Davis split the carries last game but there should be no doubt now that Tice is the real deal. # G. L. N. TD LG. AVG. TICE, Darius 7 44 3 41 0 24 5.9 DAVIS, Willie 8 14 0 14 0 4 1.8 To stir the pot....EVEN if Shaw is 100% (which I don't think he is from interpreting CT), if Tice has figure out the playbook, he needs get the lions share of the carries with Shaw as the change of pace back.
  5. I am happy Shaw is getting healthy but he needs to be 100% to contribute. I think Tice is capable of putting up similar numbers once he becomes an everydown back. Last game he was on pace for breaking a hundred. IMO Tice as the featured back is the way to go...
  6. Congratz M.G. I've been with my wife for over 13 years and its been awesome. Yeah I have a honey-do list and sometimes I have to take her into consideration when I want to run wild, but I knew that getting into to it and she more than makes up for it putting up with me Wish you a blessed and joyful marriage!
  7. From what I have seen in Tice, I prematurely think he will be the best back we've had since A. Hall IMO Davis may have got too many touches last game. Of course RBs need to do more than just run. Looking forward to Tice developing into an all purpose back.
  8. The announcers stated during the game he re-aggravated the injury he sustained from the Cincinnati game, but I can't quite remember what they said it was. Don't quote me on this but I believe they said it was a high ankle sprain. Regardless he has been toughing it out since the Cinci game. Wish him all the best and speedy recovery.
  9. This is the right call. See what you have in White now. Either way your building for next year or will discover you need another QB recruit.
  10. like someone said in another thread, Eveld seems to be good in relief. check out stats when he doesn't start but finishes a game. the infamous miami win, cinciy this year, even mcneese state. then look at his numbers when he starts. UConn x 2, FAU, MSU. totally opposite. i hope this one changes that trend. some guys are meant to be relief pitchers. --------- Certainly plausible. IMO we have not really had any recent QB really develop bc of coaching. For the first time we have a coach that truly understands the position. I saw a decent Qb scrambling for yards when he could (although initial takeoff is not pretty lol), making reads, checkdowns, being accurate, taking care of the roc against Cinci...progress. @Uconn I saw a player who knew he wasnt 100% being scared of the rush which lead him to not see the field. I think this maybe why he is starting CT is giving him a chance to show the stuff vs Cinci. Ding-dong-ding Did you know Cinci is ranked 7th in the nation for sacks and Uconn is 120? The more you know.... LINK!! http://espn.go.com/college-football/statistics/team/_/stat/defense/sort/sacks
  11. I have made this point elsewhere but I think Eveld's play against Uconn was misleading bc he was hurt. If he plays like he did against Cinci I cant imaging anyone on this board being upset. 2 Qtrs,10 for 16, 0 TURNOVERS!!, 15 yards rushing, 122 PaYrds (and thats with dropped passes including a TD) It is clear that Cinci is a better team than Uconn and Eveld did well. Maybe I am being overly optimistic but I thought I actually saw Eveld progress in the Cinci game. Fingers crossed!!
  12. I think CT is very clear and correct about his current position regarding redshirts. You play whomever gives you the best shot at winning and make sure the player is onboard.
  13. Thx for doing this. I miss not being to hear the shows and u make it possible!
  14. Interesting to note, as USF started to fall off UCF began to improve. OLeary is not going anywhere, so is there enough local talent to supply UCF and USF after the big 3? Historically it does look that way... we need to beat UCF sooner rather than later or CT will be facing a tough job @USF
  15. If UCF is on the upswing and we need time to build, I dont like the possible repercussions on recruiting...
  16. Only possible if he started growing roots. ----------- Ha. Explains what happened a few times directly after the snap against Uconn.
  17. Against Cinci I remember the protection being not so good. You had Bench go down and Eveld got hit several times and was definitely hurt by the end. UConn I thought the protection was better but Eveld was less mobile than usual. Anyhow I guess we will see if Uconn Eveld was just a product of injury or not. But if he plays like the Cinci game I think we could get more Ws this season. Was I the only one who watched that game? I will take QB play like that anyday. As far as mobility goes I think the right play calls for blitz can be amazing offense weapons. But Strong is a defensive mind so it could be a long game. Brad Johnson was a dink and dunk type of QB under Gruden which doesnt require much time but the play calling has to be there.
  18. Lol....how about no. Its a bye...and afterall I think a 'ville fan started the post so we kind of are
  19. If there is one game this year we must win its UCF. I have been to just about about all 4 games with a close win at the Trampoline. Does any one else hate hearing the soccer hype song during a football game? (Ohh-wooh-o-wooh-o--oh-oh) Even in defeat UCFers remain defiant. I am not looking forward to my sister inlaw if they win this year. But being a scientist I must present some objectivity. UCF is a great univeristy, with a large and loyal fan base. Overall the tailgates have been a blast, like a jealous older sibling wanting more attention In fairness I think USF going to the BE, beating UCF all four years, the embrassment of OLearys application scandals, poor production under OLeary for quite sometime all count as some hard lumps. In fact I think it makes them empathic to USF current situation which is why they haven't been to bad this year. This may ask change the closer we get to game day though.
  20. Based on CT's recent comments regarding Bench, Eveld starting in the near future is a likely reality. There has been lots of legacy negativity regarding Eveld with very little...lets say...current, critical anaylsis of his play...so lets undertake this endeavor shall we...b/c what else do we have to do during the bye Yes Eveld started out poorly this year, his numbers arent great, last year was no better, and he is no Daniels/Grothe....OK! What I would like to note is his play in the last two games. Against Cinci game where he stepped in for Bench. 2 Qtrs,10 for 16, 0 TURNOVERS!!, 15 yards rushing, 122 PaYrds What these numbers dont show but we are all aware of, are the number of dropped passes, especially TD passes on the money. Also Eveld actually picked up rushing yards on critical downs to move the chains. He got his bell rung several times during that game due to poor Oline play but showed some toughness. Against Uconn: 4 Qtrs, 8 for 28, 1 INT, -7 Rushing, 106 PaYrds Some might say that this proves Bobby sucks. Others will point out the dropped passes and poor Oline play, although I thought they gave Eveld time unlike the Cinci game. My take is the dropoff from Cinci to Uconn is related to Eveld being nicked up. He was definitely hurt against at the end of the Cinci game limping about and I believe I saw those injuries lingering in pregame warm up @Uconn. He was clealry worried about the rush, not seeing open recievers (can imagine open recievers!), being tackled by the turf (honestly Eveld has to be the least mobile QB in USF history), and doing that odd roll out to toss the ball out of bounds before actual pressure arrived. Moreover CT clealry stated in the post game presser that he knew that wasnt Bobby out there, which IMO indicates they knew he was a little banged up. I still like Bench as the starter. If he can't go though I think the game we saw Eveld demonstrate against Cinci is more represntative of his recent progess and makes me somewhat hopeful. This is especially true if Tice can pick up more of the playbook to help establish the run while Shaw is out. I think Eveld can be a Brad Johnson type QB, not flashy or mobile, but can do enough to win you some games. If he can get back too 100% and plays a full 4 Qtrs like Cinci @63% CMP things may not be so bleak. How about that for some positivity!
  21. -------------------------------------------------------- Mostly agree with this. Lets clarify though in an effort to prempt snarky comments ...this "grade" is relative to where we thought the team might be and not to all of CFB. I would give special teams a B+ (still need a returner with take it to the house potential for an A) and add Chandler to the list. Its also a little difficult to rate the defense as they are out on the field for so long but the fight is back, LB play is so much better. Even though we have been burned in the secondary dare I say even that has improved... Also we can add a little more detail to the offense: Run game: A (Shaw=outstanding, Tice=Next A. Hall?!) Pass game: F Turnovers: F Overall: F That is all
