  1. This is all speculation but it's possible where there is smoke there is fire. If Strong was in final negotiations with USF last night, due to arrive in Tampa today and CWT is trying to offer him the DC job at UO now, then there is certainly a grey area there that CWT is in.
  2. I don't know. I got to imagine that Strong wants to run the show and prove himself. USF would allow him to do that and build his rep for his own p5 HC gig. Going to UO with CWT seems risky to me especially if these rumors of Strong not wanting to move any longer have any weight.

  4. I should get on the Mad Cow...I completely missed JPP on the forum
  5. You can tell he is a little torn...Why OU? "National Championship"
  6. For the record...I think CRW is probably a good positional coach. I did not want him to be our DC, he had a lot of on the training to go through at this level. Same is true if we go after a HC with no experience at this level.
  7. Maybe but just bc you have experience doesn't mean you wouldn't be successful here. I certainly can appreciate that both Strong and Miles don't run a spread run first offense but we have those pieces in place if they decide to use them. If I am Harlan I make sure to express our desire to continue down the spread based O. Heck he can even insist we keep much of the O coaching unit intact. I honestly don't think Miles or Strong would come here and try to go to a pro-set. They are smart coaches.
  8. Those of you saying no retreads would you be willing to sacrifice another 1-3 years while they learn to be a head coach at this level? What you would call a retread I would call experience and this point in time that is exactly what we need. A Miles or Strong HC appointment would hit the ground running. They might be gone in 3 years they might not but with a veteran coach the expectation for this team would be no down time learning. In three years we could be in a good position to move to a P5 conference if we continue to do well and grow.
  9. Apparently Miles is a top candidate for Houston. But even if you look at our informal poll here looks like the TBP is not excited about him. Honestly I find this kind of remarkable. None of the coaches in poll even come close to his resume...
  10. Bc Strong is going to S O U T H F L O R I D A South Florida, South Florida, Goooo Bulls!!
  11. Maybe someone can explain to me why Les Miles isn't getting more love? He has the best resume of all the coaches currently avaliable.
  12. Probably right...just thought it would be more. Can't disagree about the resources he will have.
  13. https://twitter.com/SIPeteThamel/status/806591524502962176 Source: Willie Taggart's deal at Oregon is five years at an average of $3.2 million per year. How does CWT's deal look? Almost seems within the realm of something USF could have made competitive.
  14. If you did that I would have to ask @Brad to pull rank, determine who it was and whip out that perma-ban post stat!!
  15. Meh...though no one I know can verify this, we do know that changes started to happen on Kinnan showed up. To be perfectly honest, the 'gulf coast' offense relies on speed and talent more so than X and O's. I don't think it will be that hard to duplicate and in fact several teams in CFB run a version of this spread run-first offense with more wrinkles against better competition. We are also assuming much if we don't think CWT will try to take the coaches whom he deems critical to his success. Kinnan is older though, loves the game, and I doubt he follows CWT to Oregon. He had a hard enough time convincing his wife to let him commute from Brandenton ;-) BTW I am not trying to take anything away from CWT, I was one of the level head folks around here when people where calling for his head.
  16. The photoshop job stings a bit... http://www.goducks.com/?path=football
  17. "...One big problem, however, is family ties. USF associate head coach David Reaves is the brother of Kiffin’s wife, Layla, who filed for divorce in March. A source told Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports “that well has been poisoned” for Kiffin at USF. Kiffin does have a strong endorsement he can tout to any program looking for a coach, but this situation may make things a bit too awkward for this particular school."
  18. Pish posh... unless he plans to keep Reaves I see no conflict of football interest here...people have marital problems all the time. As long as he wasn't abusive etc he should be interviewed.
  19. This would be an interesting and exciting turn of events, if it plays out. Would be very interested to see how next year looks under a Strong regime (pun intended lol).
  20. Also has made some decisions that rubbed people the wrong way... "Kiffin’s early-career rise began when Pete Carroll recognized his ability as a talented playcaller and named him co-offensive coordinator at USC in 2005. But problems didn’t start until Kiffin was named the youngest NFL head coach of the modern era — at 31 — with the Oakland Raiders in 2007. After a short tenure and 5-15 overall record, Kiffin was fired by Al Davis, who also called him a liar in a press conference. Kiffin then became the true villain of the game when he became the coach at Tennessee. In one season, he easily won over the fan base, won seven games (two more than the previous year) and accused Urban Meyer and rival Florida of breaking NCAA rules. Then he abruptly left for his dream job at USC, which didn’t end up working out, and UT fans still loathe him." http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/08/lane-kiffin-usc-alabama-controversy-monte-kiffin
