  1. Wouldn't mind seeing him on the sidelines getting a feel for how things currently operate and get the inside scoop on our current coaches.
  2. Today is the cutoff for JUCO dead period, so lets hope CCS has reach out in person.
  3. By the way, not to toot our own Hornz to hard, but the local media could take a que from us on the TBP. The topics being posted here, where we volunteer our own time to create content, is exactly what they should be doing, as its there paid job! If they push us hard enough, it might be worth while talking to Brad about producing articles and attempt to monetize the content on TBP similar to traditional media I am getting a little tired of having to get most of my Bulls news from my fellow fans who work in other full-time professions b/c of the apathetic and tabloid like coverage. BTW, this has nothing to do with the wife aggro I am getting b/c of spending my entire morning glued online and not getting anything done.
  4. 57% believing CCS will take us to the 'Next Level' is quite positive! If this is indicative of the pulse for Bulls Nation, I expect to see a fuller stadium next year. Go Bulls!!
  5. I am going over optimistic and 2017 b/c I believe we have the talent, as shown under Allen, but took a gamble/buddy system with an inexperienced DC in CRW.
  6. Lets take this conversation to another level and look at defense's under CCS 2008 | DC | UF | 9 - National Champs 2009 | DC | UF | 4 2010 | HC | Ville | 14 2011 | HC | Ville | 23 - Conference Title 2012 | HC | Ville | 23 - Conference Title 2013 | HC | Ville | 1 2014 | HC | Texas | 24 2015 | HC | Texas | 107 2016 | HC | Texas | 95 My takes: I am not sure what happened the last two years at Texas but its clear that traditionally CCS has lead some great defenses. Note that this is with the best talent at his disposal at UF or near USF levels at Ville. This would lead me to surmise that something else was happening at Texas, booster, not everyone buying in, who knows. It is also reassuring to me and a counter point to those who espouse that what happened at Texas was only on CCS b/c even his D started dropping off at Texas which otherwise has been in the top 25 and lead to a NC at UF. 7. Not quite actually. The current discussion whether we should keep things as they are (ie the O staff) because the current O is better than the O that Strong had in place at Texas. My point is that we can't make this comparison between our O and the O at Texas bc the talent levels are different. We didn't out coach our opponents for the most part, we out talented them. I 'feel' that under strong we will not only be able to out talent but also out coach. Also both those conferences have bottom feeders as well.
  8. I agree that the Big 12 has weak D's in general but I am not sure this translates as the general talent level in the Big12 is higher than the AAC. Its hard to say for sure though. I would guess that we would put up number but maybe we are closer to 20 than the 10th best O in the country.
  9. True. As many are stating in the media and on TBP, its possible that CCS close to figuring it out just like CWT was at USF which was confounded by other factors at Texas. We should recall that we were just about ready to fire CWT in year 3. The fact that Texas was in the top 20 on offense would indicate that they were indeed getting close on O. I think our is only going to get better under CCS because we will have a better OC at the helm (ie not CCS) and a better D as he has a proven track record as a DC.
  10. Do you think that would be the case if we were in the SEC or Big12? I would speculate that we would not be able to out talent as many teams as we did this year if you substitute us in either of those conferences. FSU was not that great of a D, but talent was on par with the many Big12/SEC teams, and we struggled on O. We had a hard time with a not as talented but well coach Temple D as well. Same was true in 2015. The play calling was not the X factor in 2016. It was FL talent with a spread offense. Moreover, I foresee our O improving under CCS bc the I believe we will get a better OC. Keep the spread and the talent and we will be successful a la CJL and CWT last 2 years. Force a pro style/power set on USF and down we go. I would be willing to take a bet that CCS will stick to the spread because he is a smart coach. Moreover, you better believe Harlan will tell him to keep the spread.
  11. If USF is successful as we think he might be at USF and we don't move into a P5 conference, I agree he could leave. But with the rumors that he is looking to settle, he could go down in CFB history. As others have said USF could be closer to a NC then CWT at UO. But to many moving pieces to be certain of anything atm. Just go get that Conference Championship in 2017!
  12. Offensive stats from 2016: http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21 Texas 19 Tennessee 50
  13. Mind blown from a recruiting standpoint. But it would be nice to have some continuity for CCS brining O staff from Texas.
  14. Meh...I would say that CWT play calling was not all that great. When we played good teams that we couldn't out talent. I would agree that one complaint that I heard about Strong's time in Texas that he was changing his system over the three years. In fact that sounds very familiar to what CWT did at USF, only he had an extra year to get it right. I am not overly concerned with this. Many think that CCS was almost there even at Texas and that Herman will be successful bc of this next year.
  15. Lets leave it at that for this thread as to not hijack it on the momentous day . We can continue in the Cow if you would like. @NCBull started a related thread there.
  16. Agreed its the wrong thread. No need to hijack this one which is pretty good thus far. That bath was nice, thx for the recommendation. Maybe I should try some to help the transition from a post doc in physics to a faculty member at a Tier 1 research university
  17. Agree with Trip. @Bausfkid I will continue the conversation over there if you would like. Its cool if we don't as well. We have enough to chat about with USF new HC CCS!
  18. I mean why do you find it hard to believe he would say he wants to be the first african american coach to win a NC?
  19. Its looking more and more that one of the snags was indeed more coaching pool money. Judy specifically mentions the board. "...The board of trustees and I believe he brings outstanding leadership and experience, and is sure to be a tremendous resource to the entire USF System.”
  20. Is Harlan your source? Props J....you were on this one. I know your doing your lawyer thing but our local Bulls coverage is weak and we could use someone with actual source not just quoting TBP....(ehm ehm JK)
  21. I'm getting to that funny age now where I am no longer able to understand early twenty somethings....what is GoBurrs? I get the Skrong accent bit.
