  1. Winning a national title surely wouldn't be the end of it. I remember when USF played at Florida, I checked out a couple of Gators message boards, and they had their own versions of these idiots. Some people aren't happy with the team unless they can complain about it, it's a way for them to congratulate themselves for being so much smarter than everyone else.
  2. Can anyone give me a brief idea of what, if anything, I should be excited about? Who are the stars of this class? Anyone really exciting USF is still in the running for? I mean, I can see the star ratings on Rivals, but, you know, star ratings suck and stuff.
  3. Not *quite* the same - you still have to earn your place in a bowl game, everyone gets to sign up for little league. I am surprised to learn the losers get rings though.
  4. Is vega a person? I just hadn't ruled out the possibility of the the username being assigned to a poorly programed automated spammer or something like that.
  5. It's not nothing, but it's unfortunately probably not as impressive as it sounds to someone who doesn't follow recruiting that closely. Think of it like college to NFL - lots of all-conference or even all-american guys in college don't amount to much as pros, this is no different. But these are still some of the guys most likely to join the team and make an impact. At least, that's how I see it. But there are a lot of posters here who follow recruiting way more closely than I do.
  6. I just don't understand what the "excuses" line even could possibly mean. What could USF beating Auburn and FSU in the past be an excuse for? "If only USF hadn't beaten these teams before, the team would have made a bowl game this season." What else could it possibly mean? It just makes no sense at all.
  7. I agree. That's why I hate reading ll this bullshite from excuse makers on this board about how USF football can't compete and win because it has only been around 17 years. Where are the excuses? Where did Bulliever say anything except USF has beaten both these teams before? You don't think you're reading into this something that's not there? If anything, Bulliever probably started this thread to be critical of the current situation - a look at how far USF football has fallen. Take a few seconds to stop patting yourself on the back and actually read it, genius. What a ridiculous comment. Totally out of place. "I hate back seat drivers!" - oh, you mean this isn't a thread to whine about **** that has nothing to do with the posts in it?
  8. Honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed, if it were any poster other than Vega using that pronoun. It sounded sound weird coming from something that is so clearly not a USF fan. I mean it doesn't even try to hide that fact most of the time, so it's really strange for it to say "our" or "we" all of a sudden. (edited to correct my own pronoun usage)
  9. I personally never use "our" like that, but I don't care when other people do, provided they're actually fans of the team. Vega's just not a USF fan. I don't know what it is, but it's not a USF fan, that is for sure. Plus, I assume you do or have in the past donated to USF athletics. That's good enough for me.
  10. It's because he realized his is not, in fact, ready.
  11. I don't think you have to have any direct ties to USF to speak that way, but there at least has to be an indication that you get pleasure out of the the teams winning. It's pretty clear that's not the case with Vega. Honestly, I can't figure out why the **** it even posts here.
  12. "Our" motto? Do you have any ties to USF other than the fact that you decided to show up on this board one day and drown us all with cliche, tired "opinions" you come up with? Have you ever given any indication that you support USF, as opposed to supporting hearing your own voice as much as possible? I'm usually the first to blast the stupid "I'm a bigger fan!" "No, I'm a bigger fan!" ****-measuring contests that come up on here all the time, but in your case, I see no reason for you to call yourself a USF fan, or to lump yourself in with USF fans.
  13. Agreed. I like Auburn and had a positive experience there in 2007 (and not just because USF won), but I would love to see Auburn and Alabama both lose. And I love reminding all my Gator fan family that Mizzou was a mid-tier at best Big XII team; now, with an Auburn loss, they'll be all SEC fans have to beat their chests about this year.
  14. It belongs nowhere. Not because of the content, but because of the lack of content.
  15. If he can guide a team to a BCS bowl win, anyone can. It's not necessarily praise of that clown.
  16. Well, I didn't say Louisville fans wouldn't want him back, though I am surprised to see that. I still doubt the administration would welcome him back, no matter what their AD says publicly. I'm prepared to admit I'm wrong if they do though.
  17. Did Spurrier want to go back? Doubtful. I'm sorry I started this debate.
  18. Relevant enough for you to post in the thread, apparently. Nobody's saying USF would beat them today. You're free to not participate in the nostalgia if you'd rather think back to the exciting McNeese State game this year.
  19. Depends whether you count the 2007 season: 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 That's seven. But it's six years and a few months since the win over Auburn.
  20. Maybe technically true, but hardly relevant. Those conferences are made up mostly of teams that gained their place as the lords of college football before most college teams were in conferences (or indeed before many universities even played football), and before college football was the money machine it is today. They did it in a totally different environment. Today, the rules and structure of the sport are designed to protect their status and limit the number of teams that could potentially one day join their exclusive club. College football is the only major sport in America where the rules are designed to prevent parity, rather than encourage it.
  21. There is a direct correlation between spending lots of money and having lots of success in sports, both at the college and professional level. How can you argue otherwise? Louisville may not be where they are without Jurich - that's debatable. What's not debatable is that they wouldn't be where they are without a budget that was by far the biggest in the Big East year after year. If they didn't have to spend all that money to put good teams out there, then why did they spend it? Louisville was outspending USF and the like by a mile before they became "ESPN's golden team." Yes there are examples of smaller-budget schools having success for periods, but it's not sustainable. Also, when did Louisville's most successful period in football come? When they were spending more money than they ever had before.
  22. Firing him, of course. Anyone have any idea what kind of buyout is in Woolard's contract? In the unlikely event that he were fired sometime soon, how much would USF be on the hook for?
