  1. So the first day of the draft is done, with no other USF players being drafted. The third and fourth rounds will be on Tuesday (very strange that the two days are not back-to-back).
  2. Yeah just want to clarify, I see no reason, personality-wise, why Leavitt can't be an NFL head coach. My comment about the Ryans wasn't meant to imply that. I'm not sure Leavitt has the management skills to be an NFL head coach, but if he can land a defensive coordinator gig somewhere, he may at least earn himself an opportunity. I do agree age is a factor though, and so he probably has to get that opportunity soon if it's going to happen.
  3. http://www.mlssoccer.com/players/ben-sweat What Scouts Say: "Very good athlete as an attack-minded fullback … Provides good service from left back and combines well … Good on the ball and will do well for a team that needs a left-back option … Reminds me of Marc Burch, but might have more potential because he's stronger physically … It's unclear how he will do defensively in the league, 1 v. 1, but he knows how to play his position … Someone will do well with him." He'll be playing in Columbus. The draft is still ongoing, so more USF guys may be taken later.
  4. Disagree, Trip. I think Rex Ryan is quite the politician, and Rob Ryan has never gotten a head coaching job.
  5. Exactly. It's a childish cry for attention, nothing more.
  6. I applaud your decision to no longer give your money, or same amount of time, to the rudderless, sinking ship that is USF athletics. Sports is entertainment. . . . . . therefore you rightfully have an expectation to be entertained. This violation is unwatchable. The superfans that say you have lost your right to complain, opine or even get back on the USF bandwagon are wrong. How can he complain about something he says he won't watch? How would his opinion be at all valid then?
  7. How would he even know what to post about? That is exactly my point. If he's not going to watch USF athletics, then there is no reason for him to discuss USF athletics.
  8. That also may be, it's just the article seems to suggest his redshirting in 2013 is somehow related.
  9. Yeah that's a head-scratcher. It says because he took a redshirt this past season, he's immediately eligible. The only thing I can think of, and I've never heard this before if it's true, is that taking a redshirt in 2013 can count as the season he has to sit out? That or the article is just misinformed.
  10. So we will all know you are full of **** when you come on here complaining about anything in the next year or two, right? There will be no reason for you to post about games, players, or coaches when you aren't watching games.
  11. smazza, you're hardly the only person who is glad you don't live in Tampa.
  12. I mentioned Kitna only because the Cowboys almost signed him when Romo went down, so he was the first free agent quarterback I could think of. But you're kidding yourself if you think a Super Bowl contender like the Seahawks would have finished the season with their practice squad quarterback. Zero percent chance of that ever happening regardless of who the player was, in my opinion. Maybe it would have been a trade rather than a free agent signing, who knows, but BJ Daniels: Seattle starting quarterback was the least likely result, should both of their top two options been hurt.
  13. Every message board has its own place on this scale: Intelligent discussion<-------------------------------------------------------->More discussion This forum (meaning TheBullsPen) is very much on the "more discussion" side of that scale - I personally would prefer it to be more on the side of intelligent discussion, but it's not my site.
  14. Yeah because USF and UCF really "control" anything at all. What does that even mean?
  15. "Joined Dec 08, 2012" You've been on this forum long enough to know that there have been a million billion threads and posts on these two topics, and that all you are doing is opening a worthless can of worms full of questions that nobody here can answer except with a bunch of meaningless, baseless speculation.
  16. Jim Leavitt would be a terrible athletic director. Terrible.
  17. No offense to Daniels, but if Wilson and Tavaris Jackson (their backup) both got injured, they almost certainly would have signed a free agent like Kitna rather than gone with Daniels. There's no way to know, of course, but that seems way more likely to me.
  18. Sorry, accidentally posted this in the BJ Daniels thread. Reposting it here, where I meant to put it: Didn't want to start a new thread about this, but I also just caught site of Jim Leavitt for the first time. I usually watch for him when I see 49ers games, but I've never seen him on the sideline, which leads me to believe he is usually up in the booth instead of on the field. But after Willis made that pick a few minutes ago, I saw Leavitt in his face on the sideline talking to him about something in typical intense Leavitt fashion.
  19. No they don't. I know reading is not your strong suit. Only 10 teams make the AAC tourney. Most other conferences let every team play in their respective tournaments. There are only 10 teams in the AAC. Got me, but I thought the 10 team thing was going to continue beyond this season. Not sure, I haven't seen anything definitive for beyond this year. I assume that means the AAC hasn't made its plans beyond this year public yet, but who knows.

  21. Who here has criticized Daniels for being on the practice squad? It's certainly much better than most would have expected, given the level of coaching he had while at USF. He's a good, hard-working player and is a great guy to call a Bull. I doubt he's NFL starter material, but I wouldn't be shocked if he worked his way up to being a backup, and then, if he gets a chance to play, who knows?

  23. ... no? Vic Fangio, the 49ers' defensive coordinator, has not been mentioned in association with the Vikings job, from what I've seen. It was just reported that Minnesota would interview San Francisco's offensive coordinator though. Fangio did interview to replace Mike Shanahan in Washington, but they didn't hire him. I haven't seen him linked to any other jobs. Even if he did go elsewhere, I believe there are other guys on their staff likely to get promoted internally before Leavitt, and that's assuming they even choose their next defensive coordinator from someone currently on staff. Their defensive backs coach, Ed Donatell, has been a defensive coordinator for both the Packers and the Falcons in the past. They also have an assistant named Peter Hansen who works closely with Fangio in preparing scouting reports, studying film, and other stuff; he filled the same role working with Fangio and Harbaugh at Stanford, and Harbaugh supposedly has a very high opinion of him. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10277775/minnesota-vikings-interview-49ers-offensive-coordinator-greg-roman
  24. I didn't see him, so I don't know if he was in uniform, but he is Seattle's practice-squad quarterback and is not part of their active roster.
