SG is doing some type of deal with athletics for current students. Can't say what exactly... yet... but details should be highly advertised soon. I'll throw it on the board asap. Like I always say, we need more students attending these games!

Trust me... the only way an OCS gets built soon... is if someone forks over millions and millions and $$. No other way for AT LEAST 10 more years otherwise.

I with AD Woolard is doing a great job... the sports programs are doing great, with the ability to do SO MUCH more. Not to mention... smazza... we do have a band. Just, in my personal opinion, an underfunded one. Something Woolard does not have much control over... as Athletics doesn't have the $$ to throw our way (I assume).

Difference = they have $$ They just want to do more! We can't bring ourselves into complience with the universities own visual standards... let alone go to extra games! We have UCF... thats it. They have a "band room".... we have a horrible looking broken down trailer on the edge of campus. I doubt you want to start this arguement.

I agree, I just don't think we can wait for the admin/athletics to fix it. We need some outside sources. Contact people at the USF Foundation and provosts office for more ways to help.

Well, it took some crazy politics... some of which I can't disclose... but lets just say Judy G got it done. FYI: The buildings are being built with PECO (Physical Education Capitol Outlay) funds... they can't use them once so ever to feed or put uniforms on the backs of the HOT. Needless to say, our school got a pretty good chuck of PECO and a few huge "gifts in kind" (ie: 30 or so mil for the Patel Center and 10 mil for Athletics(3 m)/Adcanced Med School(7 m)). The 3 or so mil for athletics will cover the new football practice fields and the new softball stadium.

Oh c'mon! I know a lot of people at UCF, including their Student Body Pres and VP and a few more people from SGA... but c'mon... they have some cool stuff... but support USF!!!!

I personally don't see any ********, moaning, etc from band members here. Scott and myself have been quite frank in our posts... we deal with what we have. It would just be nice to have the $$ to do the upgrades and extras that would help establish us along side with other Big East, and OOC bands/universities. If you want facts... I gave all the figures, and also where we don't get the help. Notice what I posted earlier: We need to improves alumni/gifts and band fundraising, and we need a large donation... if possible. Otherwise I see some type of general increase in the A&S fee or another fee tacked onto students.

It's a surprise! We really have no choice but to go to UCF... besides... it's a cheap trip... just busses (no hotel, extra days, etc like Miami). I wouldn't worry much about that.

Strange to see this topic come up again... but I guess I am glad Mutt is looking out for us. The band has always been underfunded, to a degree. The first few years the administration really did back up the program, but since then they have been trying to get Student Government (you know those A&S fees you pay us) to pay for it, or just tell the band to hold a bake sale. SG doesn't have the current funds to pay for uniforms or anything like that (half of the fee funds go directly into the Marshall Center operations and upkeep) -- and a bake sale or whatever the band can do to raise funds right now just can't support something in the range of... lets say a $150,000 bill for new uniforms. If anyone wants the numbers... I have them all. Projected HOT Budget: 06-07 = $530,641 Projected HOT Uniforms: $150,000 Who pays what? USF Admin - $302,000 (projected to decrease each year) USF Foundation - $20,000 (all gone in 07-08!) Corp Sponsor - $41,000 (never seen, maybe none) Aux Funds - $20,000 (band fundraise - trying to increase ea yr - like cd sales, etc) SG or extra fee for ALL students - $55,000 (SG=no $ / students don't want another fee!) Athletics - $92,000 (post season travel, etc) *All budget information can be obtianed from the University (Provost's Office) under Sunshine Law, open to the public.* Notice that no one gives "gift in kinds" (Corp Sponsor) to the band. We don't have an aged Alumni base to do so yet. The band is working the best they can to get internal fundraising (ie: CD's!) up and running. Sorry to say, the bake sale doesn't cut it with these numbers... it didn't cut it when I was in high school ($60,000 total budget) so it really won't now. What we need are two things... 1) some smart planing (ie: REAL support/funding) 2) alumni/gifts in kind (start now, build over time) I'll check back... I'm sure Rockytop will try to kill me with another one liner...
