  1. I will still have an offical statement when Dr. Robinson e-mails me back today (or becuase of the game) tomorrow.
  2. Thanks for the contact. Feel free to ask/look around for us... I will have an offical statement concerning the CD tomorrow.
  3. I assume they were stuck on something... copyrights, etc. We did have music on that CD that was not ours... I don't know exactly what it is... but I asked and I am waiting for a reply. Until then, if ANYONE is willing to help out with the above idea... let me know. If we never get a CD... I'll try to upload whatever recordings I have or that I can get for everyone (in multiple file types for download). The final say is up to the Director, but I'll try my best to get you guys what you want.
  4. Anyone willing to donate professional video expertise to record the Herd of Thunder playing stands songs... (ie.. wooly bully, bulls on parade, school songs, etc)???? I can't guarantee a CD or something like that (sorry, I still don't know).... but if someone knows someone who is willing to record and tape the band (for free, remember... we are broke)... you guys may be able to have free video and music!?!? Just an idea... I didn't run it by the Director or anyone for that matter... but let me know
  5. Its almost laughable. The foundation is doing something weird with the links... try this one... watch the video and click the donation button... http://usfweb2.usf.edu/ua/affmb/flash/ Herd of Thunder Multimedia Files are found at: http://band.arts.usf.edu/media.htm
  6. Rocky has more than one new uniform... look out for the other two.... I hope they didn't put down our new mascot... ****
  7. Hey guys... I'll be honest... I have no clue why we don't have a CD out right now... but I promise whatever it is... its a good reason. Could be anything (copyrights, university issues, etc). We did not record the CD until the end of last December.
  8. There are a lot more new things around campus. Tampa Campus did look kind of negative, although I understand why. If anyone has been around campus this week (obviously some of you are not even in the state!), parking is... lets say... worse than normal. Cars are lined up down every aisle of every parking lot waiting for that one car to pull out. Trust me... over the last three years (even just from last year) it has become a MUCH larger problem. Park and Ride lots, even with them being at least 15-20 mins away from most buildings are also almost full (some 100% full). The new garage isn't finished yet (coming within a month or two), so no new spaces have been added... in fact some were taken away to build the new garage. Even though I don't want to pay a 20% increase a year for 5 years for my permit... we need it! First day numbers were released after that article: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/infomart/eprofiles/currentprofile2/eProfilesUSFSystem.htm The new Marshall Center has started... and watching the SEC/Skyway get slowly knocked down every day is impressive. The new Marshall Center will also be impressive... with a lot more room than present... a sports grill/bar... casual eating... larger food court... a mall like shop row... senate chambers (for SG/Faculty/USPS)... and other cool features. Web cam: http://ctr.usf.edu/mc/webcam1.html Not so special... but they are improving our utilities too... haha... one reason why the new CVPA (music) building, admin building, etc isn't started yet. Parking Garage 4 will be started soon near Engineering and four new res halls will be built in the current parking lot north of Magnolia. For those who ever stayed in the old Andros complex (Crappa Kappa myself...), that will be tourn down within 10 years and new halls will be built in its place. A LOT is changing... swing by when you can! New state paid academic buildings within 5 years: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/FacilitiesPlan/Campus%20Planning/Tampa%20CIP.pdf Other projects have funding now... including the Advanced Healthcare Center, new Athletic complex (with new football facilities/softball stadium), and the Patel Center for Global Soultions. Completed w/ pics: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/FacilitiesPlan/projects/recently.html
  9. We have students from HCC and SPC. Also if students from UT, St. Leo or MCC wanted to join the Herd, they could do so too! ;D Yeah, we allow anyone in a college which are able to "dual enroll." Many students go to an area CC, etc and plan to attend USF in the future... and would like to join the band early. Overall, it gives any college students in the area the ability to be in a band... when they can't elsewhere.
  10. The better numbers come from 1) Big East Conf Play... being known 2) The trips... 3) Stipends 4) A better band... attacting more/better students 5) We look like we have fun... and we do 6) An organized recruitment effort which started last year with two disignated officers (I did it last year, and HOTmello is doing it this year) 7) New uniforms (haha, they were announced... so this may be true) Overall... we are just getting bigger and better. We grow with the athletics program... Only problem.... we cost more! Efforts are underway to get donations and other funding... and again... sorry that my donation page is complicated. I can't use anything on our web site (university reg), other than the link to the foundation. http://band.arts.usf.edu/donate.htm
  11. they range... I do not know the numbers this year... but anywhere from 250 to 500. FSU is always big due to their school of music, but UF is always smaller. We are just now getting into that large stage. Of course... UCF has 241 exact members too... weird... copy cats
  12. The university used to have a 3 story LIMIT on all buildings... now we have a 3 story min... 4 on LC Blvd. They are building higher now... due to the need for space in the main campus area.
  13. Well... this has been discussed in several USF Board of Trustee meetings... so it isn't out of the question. MOSI is building one now or very soon.
  14. Thanks man... I wish I had time to really work on it more... been pretty busy lately I think it beats what we had a year ago when I took it over...
  15. Thanks man... we hope you dont drop your beer at the game...
  16. Ahhh yes... the CD. I'll be honest... the little man I am... I have no clue whats up with the CD.
  17. Just to inform everyone, the band has grown more than expected... 241 on the field this year up from 205 last year without issues from a certain hurricane... 240 proud band members will be sitting in ray jay next sat. [smiley=FIREdevil.gif]
  18. That sucks... marketing and game production really were changing for the best under that man
  19. For anyone who wants to see whats going on... as far as projects go... Capitol Improvement Plan - 5 yr: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/FacilitiesPlan/Campus%20Planning/Tampa%20CIP.pdf Facilities Planning and Construction Home Page: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/FacilitiesPlan/index.html They at least give you an idea of how things will look... if you open the Campus Master Plan (right side of the FP&C home page) you can see 10 year projection maps too.
  20. I can't seem to remember what that new building is near the College of Public Health and the new parking garage.....I'm drawing a blank here..... The one they are about to build? The Center for Advanced Healthcare? http://131.247.89.140/page.cfm?link=article&aid=1324 Isn’t there also a plan to build an Alzheimer’s research building? Or is this the same building that you are referring to? I can't keep up with all the construction... to be honest. That one is also pretty close... but the Alzheimer's center is closer to Fletcher and behind the water tower.
  21. Doesn't Bill play for the TB Storm still? haha... nice pic
  22. I can't seem to remember what that new building is near the College of Public Health and the new parking garage.....I'm drawing a blank here..... The one they are about to build? The Center for Advanced Healthcare? http://131.247.89.140/page.cfm?link=article&aid=1324
  23. I've discussed the new plans with MC admin... they arn't done moving things around in the new plans... therefore they have not been released yet. The exterior is done... but the have not released it either. I'd be on the look out for the public release of the plans around Sept or Nov... right after the demo of the SEC. (My guess)
  24. That basically can be summed up with the old quote robbing peter to pay Paul. The cheerleaders are financed by athletics in the same manner all the other sports are, just with not as much money. All of our sports do fundraisers, including football, do help augment their budget. This is one way that the cheerleaders pay for their competition, practice gear, signs, flags, etc. Their budget can't cover all of their needs. They are in a similar position as the band just not to the extreme (50 students versus 200 students). They are trying to get creative to do some of the things they would like to do to advance their program. Both squads this year are improved over last year and have a great shot at nationals. They need your support, just as the band, Rocky, and the SunDolls do. So pick your favorite and make a gift or spread it over them all. Let me know if you have any questions. Eric He is right... (obviously) but the band program, sundolls, etc are all in some way funded (although poorly) by athletics. Our athletic dept just doesnt have the gifts in kind, etc to dump cash everywhere... forcing everyone to do a little work. Cheerleaders sell calendars... sundolls have sponsors on their uniforms... and the band sells CD's (coming soon, i think) and raises around $20,000 extra to suppliment the bands budget. You know how it is... it's never enough!
