  9. I don't think our baseball team cares about a football schedule in the past year. Don;t forget their women's basetball team beat us earlier this year also. On a side note, Casey had a career high 11 K's in the loss tonight. The pen didn't show up and the bats didn't come alive at the right time even though we had 3 guys hit solo HR's. Also the D played their wost game of the year with 4 errors. They will bounce back tomorrow.
  10. Tampa, Fla. (February 16, 2005) – The USF woman’s tennis team (4-0) extended its winning streak to four matches, defeating the UCF Golden Knights, 5-2, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon. Teaming up for the first time in their collegiate careers, freshmen Courtney Vernon and Liz Cruz clinched the doubles point for USF defeating Pamela Fernandez and Becky Gordon, 9-7. Down 7-5 with their backs to the wall, USF’s newest tandem survived 5 match points to take home the ever-important doubles point. “I like playing under pressure and putting it all on the line,†Vernon said. I tried to use my forehand as much as possible to over power my opponent.†The doubles point was more important against UCF then any match played this year because of the absence of Fabiana Taverna and Luisa Obando due to injuries. Going into singles competition with a one point lead, the Bulls won 4-of-6 matches to defeat UCF for the first time in two years. Playing at the No. 3 position, Gabriela Duch remained perfect on the season defeating UCF’s Ola Luczak, 6-2, 6-3. Also picking up wins to remain undefeated on the season were Vernon and Cruz, who at the No. 2 and 4 positions easily defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-2 and 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, respectively. “Courtney and Liz really stepped it up to win the doubles point,†head coach Gigi Fernandez said. “With two players injured I wasn’t expecting to win the doubles point and I thought it would come down to the singles matches. I’m very proud of the effort our girls put forth today.†The Bulls will look to extend their win-streak and upset No. 2 Florida Gators on Monday, Feb. 21, at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla. First serve is set for 5 p.m. #55 USF 5 vs. UCF 2 USF Varsity Tennis Courts February 16, 2005 Doubles 1. Duch/Etienne (USF) def. Lohmas/Luczak (UCF) 8-0 2. Vernon/Cruz (USF) def. 11. Another reality is that in other countries, they know that playing an olympic sport like volleyball and tennis... is a meal ticket to the US. In Brazil, volleyball is just as big as any sport and it is played all the time. Same with tennis in a lot of south american countries. There are a lot of american players out there, but they have to compete with everyone else in the world. I was talking with the Men's tennis coach at Auburn when they were here and he said it's pretty hard to recruit foreign players to Auburn. He said when he talks to players they are like ALABAMA? What the heck is that? it's difficult. When you see a lot of players from different countries, that just means they were born there. Many of them grew up in the US from when they are babies. Neyssa Etienne on the women's tennis team is from Hatai, but she grew up in south florida and when to ft. lauderdale prep. You also have to remember that. If i can think of more to say i will later.
  12. There should be a press release for the night we had! It was fun JEWBULL!
  13. they played a great game, the refs didn't help but i never use them as an excuse. an 8 point loss to louisville on the road is a great improvement from last game. Nice job Bulls! we're proud!
  14. I know far too many people whose lives have been touched by cancer. Chances are, you know them too. That’s why I’m taking action against cancer by supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life event right here in Tampa. Relay is an overnight event that unites our community in a common effort to raise much-needed funds for cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Every year, the funds we raise help bring the American Cancer Society one step closer to eliminating cancer from our lives for good, but we can’t stop now. Because there’s no finish line until there’s a cure. I hope you’ll be able to join us for this year’s event. Please click on the link below for more information, including details of the inspirational Survivors’ Lap and the moving Luminaria Ceremony. If you can’t join us, will you please visit the site and make a donation to support our efforts? The Student Bulls Club has a team goal of raising $2000 for Relay for Life. Although this may sound like a lot, we are confident that with the help of our family and friends and our supportive Bulls community that we can even surpass this amount. To help with this, The Clubhouse has agreed to donate 20% of sales on Saturday during the USF/Louisville game to our cause. This email provides a link where donations can be made to Relay for Life on behalf of the Student Bulls Club team with a credit card. Any little bit that you are willing and able to donate makes a big difference. If you have family or friends that you think would be willing to help, please forward this email to them as well. If you have any questions or want to find out how you can help with Relay for Life, please email team captain Kim Branlund at Qtpie54346@yahoo.com. Thanks again and Go Bulls! http://www.acsevents.org/faf/r.asp?t=4&i=73732&u=73732-69898002&e=230632083

  17. The game was out of hand, the Charlotte coach put on a full court press when they were down 10 points with 17 seconds to go. Funny stuff. to bad only 100 people saw it
  18. SportsFan The sports info department is always looking for peopel to work gameday for men's and women's basketball and football. Since it is the end of the season for basketball, it's tough right now. Since we are moving to the Big East, all of our game day opperations are going to be getting a huge overhaul. We will need extra people to run stats, man the media room and do all that kind of stuff. If you leave me your e-mail address i will be sure to let you know what comes up.

  20. They may be listed as tight ends, but they can spread the field and cause a lot o trouble. a linebacker would have a hard time covering Cedric Hill. the kid runs like a 4.48 40. he's fast!
  21. He was very excited, joking around a lot, messing with the media that was there. He was in a good mood
