    Great win. I'm very jaded on the football program but the basketball team is making good steps.

    Being in the AAC has done that already. Can't destroy what's already destroyed. When the big East fell apart we needed to go independent at that moment. Rebuilding the AAC just dropped us down a level (the old cusa). Now we're blindly walking into the same thing as we let the nation view us as an old sun belt school (I say old, because current sun belt is a better conference than the AAC) Byu did it right. They saw Utah get a call up and refused to just accept being 2nd rate. They went independent, kept their image intact, and are now back on level with utah. We watch cfla go past us and just lay down and take it.

    No chance that miami is left in that conference. They'd sooner go independent like we should. If the best leftover acc schools go to the B12 we just need to accept the L and drop football. Any leftover conference at that point is barely an upgrade on the old aac

    Who cares how these teams do. They are an embarrassment. Hope they all lose. We should go independent.

    We play in a conference with uab, North Texas, Tulsa, Charlotte etc. It's an embarrassment to the university to be associated with these schools in any way. Going from association with dross like we have in the Aac to Stanford and cal is a massive jump for us regardless of the financials. Smu did right to pay their way in, they recognize that this conference is a giant anchor.

    Exactly what I've been pushing for us to do for over a year. If our best option is the AAC we should just leave and schedule 11 away power schools as an independent. Could schedule home and aways with uconn and UMass plus a fcs school or two if you want a few home games a year. But the majority of the schedule being exciting one offs away at power 5 schools would elevate our brand and probably help recruiting as you could sell kids on playing at all of these great places.

    What have we shown in the past 20+ years to make you think that matters at all? Even when we were good, had money and people cared about our program we couldn't get close to winning a conference. My model would be us going independent and playing primarily road one and dones away at big power 5 programs. Keep our name in people's heads until we are rescued. Playing and losing conference games to Florida Atlantic, north Texas etc is doing nothing but lowering our value as a program. 2-3 more years like the one we just had and any hope of a conference upgrade is gone.

    Getting into the acc (that only loses fsu and clemson, maybe 1-2 more) is the only thing that could save usf football. That, or independent.

    Stadium looks great. I can only imagine the sheer excitement of being in that stadium when conference rival UAB, rice, Charlotte etc come to town. The scenes.

    Added bonus to the selection committee in choosing smu in that they won't be a g5 much longer. For me they deserve all the credit for getting themselves out of this embarrassment of a conference.

    Happy for smu to win this conference title. They are a inspiration to us all in doing everything in their power to get out of this nightmare of a conference.

    Who cares. No one in the AAC has any value, even less so the dross that was just added. They can all go and nothing will change for us. Utsa will draw a crowd of a few dozen family and friends of the players at rayjay. It'll be no different if they're swapped out for whatever other pointless programs the AAC would add if they left. The one who should leave is us. Independent is our only hope.

    All of those conferences were better than the collection of trash we're in now.

    Briefly put Memphis vs temple on. Crowd is basically nothing more than the immediate families of each player. And these are two of the higher profile teams in this league. Yet posters here think this league isn't killing us.

    We should leave this dumpster conference and go independent. If that fails there's zero difference between the AAC and the sun belt. Or just shut it down altogether. We're losing nothing by leaving this **** hole conference.

    Is this thread just here to rub our noses in the fact that we're in the American? I hope smu wins it this year. I hate everything about this conference from top to bottom. That smu were willing to pay dozens of millions of dollars to get out of it says a lot
