  1. Here's a few holdovers from when I was doing that sports writing thing for the Oracle back in the early '90s: Logan Fleck (always a great choice for the celebrity Pigskin Picks column) Ken Eriksen (assistant coach then) Don Barr (didn't mind giving me the "scoop" that his No. 1 player would be missing the season) Barbara Sparks-McGlinchy, Senior Associate Director of Athletics (still love saying her name) Barry Clements, Associate Director of Athletics/Sports & Programs John Gerdes (very helpful for stats and story ideas) Jim Louk, Assistant Athletic Director/Sales & Broadcasting (still calls 'em how he sees 'em) Amabel Aqui, Associate Director of Development (still pleasant)
  2. 1. Something tells me a nationally televised game on ESPN against Miami would be a bigger payday than UCF. And don't the Glazers/TSA get a chunk of the dogs and soda sales anyway? 2. But I'd rather play UCF than McNeese State 3. We just better friggin' beat the Lancelots again this year
  3. Alaska needs DI football (and Maine and the Dakotas, etc.)
  4. While my vote would definitely be the Tampa coach (Urso), I wouldn't mind getting somebody from another "lesser" Florida school that has proven successful (like Stetson or FAU).
  5. Always wondered exactly what some of those "great benefits" include. I consider myself a bulleiver, but wondering why I should pay for it ... Thanks for any insight.
  6. YES! Andre to the Fins. Awesome. Go Dolphins ....
  7. Got mine too. Glad to see whatever foreign country we were waiting on finally paid its workers to deliver! Little disappointed in the lack of a better stand, the movement of the ticket inside and the way the ink was obviously running dry on CJL, but heck not bad order it in December and get it a few days shy of May, awesome. Yeah USF sold a measly 550 or so, and I think CJL signed a few hundred more than that. Ugh, what poor planning altogether on this initiative, but finally we got them just int time to cheer me up after coming home from another Lightning loss. (Nice Dolphins graphic above! Go Fins!!!!)
  8. I'm convinced if USF was in the Horizon League or Patriot League or everyone's new fave, the Missouri Valley, the Bulls would be more competitive and have more NCAA bids under their belt. I think this year's tourney has shown more than ever a "champion" from a mid-major can take down a mid-range team from a major conference (see Bucknell over Arkansas, George Mason over Michigan State or Wichita State over Seton Hall) but when things are said and done, I'd rather be Arkansas, MSU or even The Hall any day of the week. We need to set our sights on being in the top half of the best hoops conference every assembled and go from there. Besides, we beat a Sweet 16 team, that hopefully will beat that other team in the state tonight.
  9. BA in Mass Communications Class of 95. Put it to good use as Sports Editor of the Oracle back in the day!
  10. I'm still waiting as well. Jim Louk at USF tells me it was a problem with the plexiglas vendor and that they didn't expect to receive the cases until mid March. Which means, they should be in our mailboxes soon - I hope.
  11. I'm honestly never ashamed to be an alum for any reason, that's weak.
  12. I credit coach Fernandez a lot, and coach Elifson too for recruiting some talented players.
  13. That is, according to Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin. ESPN just pitted mascots against each other and the last battle was who would win if Huskies took on Bulls? At first, Steve said Huskies like to work in packs so they might surround the Bulls and have a go, but then he came to his senses and explained how a Bull would crush a puppy. Anyway, it's good to see Rocky finally get some mascot publicity. (And USF get it's first Big East "win") In other battles, Steve picked: Gators over Bulldogs Hawks over Raptors Bears over Longhorns Buffaloes over Jayhawks
  14. Depaul, oh wait that was the women ... at least one Bulls team can play ...
  15. Basketball shorts were my fave, helped me play extra Solomon Jones-like in the weekend warrior league ...
  16. Randall Cunningham kicked one 91 yards in 1989, now enough about punting ...
  17. It's threads like these that make me say "bring on the game already"
  18. I guess I'm OK with them playing a conference champ (Akron) an in-state rival (ECU) and the obligatory money I-AA game (App. State). Sounds pretty similar to us ...
  19. I can't even get through to order the commemorative tickets ...
