  1. Um, that's the point. I'm pretty sure the bull's name is "Rocky II" and that's what it will be, and it's a fine name.
  2. I would love to see USF make an impact in Volleyball. It's a very big sport back home... we were a point away from the final four last year.
  3. It has nothing to do with us being "underfunded" and it definitely doesn't happen to "every team." MAC schools hardly ever lose players due to nonqualification, mainly because most MAC schools won't accept as students players that close to the borderline, anyway. The NCAA requirements are not that difficult -- we ask players to score at the 25th percentile of all high school students.
  4. Look, I'm not one to defend UF, but they're internationally recognized as one of the top public universities in the country. Us ripping on those aspects of UF is as silly as Ohio State fans making fun of Michigan as a university. They're in a different sphere altogether. Now, the arrogance and idiocy of Gator fans, that's a different thing entirely.
  5. They WERE total losers. The OU alums were really awesome, smart, and cool people. I hate that my Bobcats have now lost to the Gators two years in a row... last year in the NCAA tournament, and this year in the wedding contest.
  6. Oh, and breaking down the Sweet 16 (screw this Super Regional crap) by conference: Pac 10 - 7 SEC - 3 Big 10 - 2 Big 12 - 1 ACC - 1 Atlantic 10 - 1 Big East - 1 (us, and we're a first year) So really, the sweet sixteen consists of the big time major programs, UMass, and us. Maybe this is the year we make ourselves known as a big program, too.
  7. Why don't they call it the Sweet Sixteen? That's what it is, after all.
  8. The UA Hangout is across the street from the mall and is a money factory. Anyway, the mall isn't going anywhere, it's just being sold. If you read the article, it explains that the mall makes an average amount of money compared with other mall in the country, so it's certainly not on any kind of decline. Buying out the mall would mean buying out all its tenants, which would be an exorbitant amount of money.
  9. It's a wonderful final goodbye and good riddance from the #9 MAC to Stupid Cow and Those Losers Down The Road. *snicker*
  10. But... this will conflict with the inevitable Rays game. (maybe if they let Kazmir pitch every inning for the rest of the season)
  11. They have us by the balls. Where else are we going to play? I'm surprised they're not asking for even more.
  12. ...except only .5% of Division I scholarship athletes have a chance of playing a sport professionally. (That's including sports that play semi-pro, like softball or lacrosse.) Athletes who feel they may play their sport professionally are welcome to major in finance so as to educate themselves in a way to prolong their income from the average professional athletic career of _three_years. Treating athletes like future pros upon their arrival at a university would create an entire generation of Marcus Vicks.
  13. Very few. Being a top quarterback requires intelligence (unless you're a genetic freak like Vince Young) so most top QBs are very smart. It's particularly true in the NFL.
  14. What's amazing is this guy and his total lack of sports knowledge is the #1 show in his time slot. I guess that's a testament to the lack of radio options in the Tampa Bay area.
  15. I want so desperately to not believe this, but I'm consistently shown that it's true. It's one of the reasons I want to get involved and overhaul education in this state in a major way.
  16. We're already 49th in funding public education. Why not shoot for 50? Seriously, it blows my mind how some of you can support your public officials in Tallahassee.
  17. Dion Byrum was an all-American DB and didn't get drafted... crazy
  18. abolishing the BOR is one of the worst decisions bush has made, and it hurts all of us.
  19. Uh... that's going a bit far. It's certainly not up to the standards of our Big East Brethren, that's for sure. But some schools... BCC comes to mind... don't even have their own baseball stadium, if I am remembering correctly.
  20. Why not? Monorails put Brockway, North Haverbrook and Ogdenville on the map.
  21. Here's another vote for the Times. I prefer Greg's USF coverage, but I'm also fond of the paper in general. I've appreciated the Times since I was a young journalism major and it was presented as an exemplar of journalistic integrity.
  22. Welcome aboard, usflilbull! I wonder what number I am? Is there a way to find out? It blows my mind I've been here for 3 1/2 years already.
