    I mean it’s the basis for the argument that it would drive interest in this game. Meanwhile in the times we have played it makes up just one of our top 15 attended home games.

    So many people were positive that we needed a “true rival” and that only UCF could fill that void and without them we could never have a real college atmosphere and experience, meanwhile we did just fine without them and no one seems super pumped about this week. Now the magic bullet is the OCS and if we build it and it sits empty I would think it would make sense to revisit the argument every once and a while.

    Or better yet we beat them four times and should have done anything and everything to avoid ever seeing them again.

    Everyone that was against playing them was told it was shortsighted and bad for our program not to play them and how badly we needed a rival. Those fans got what they wanted so I’m interested in if they really feel this has benefited our program because a quick look around says that it hasn’t and many of those crying for the need to play UCF have long since disappeared.

    I have plenty to be proud of as a USF fan @CousinRicky did a good job highlighting some of the reasons and there are plenty of marquee wins and major football accomplishments to go with those that I’m sure you would love to discount but I wasn’t arguing for our accomplishments or that their NY6 victories wouldn’t be accomplishments on par with ours, my argument is simply most people do not care about the AAC, pretty much everyone has no idea who won it and thus winning it is not a major accomplishment that would be program defining or celebrated in pretty much any circles except for a few people on USF and I’m assuming UCF message boards.

    That I am passionate about always being right should not be confused with me being horribly passionate about some of the subjects I am always right about. That being said I’ve never claimed to not care about whether we should align with UCF, I’ve always passionately asserted it would be horrible for us.

    I said their NY6 games and victories were exciting and something to be proud of, winning the AAC just isn’t something I think is a big thing to brag about because most people don’t even know the AAC is a real conference (it sounds made up). As for who will get in there is no evidence to support that winning conferences or winning in general has anything to do with conference realignment, see every team that got shuffled last go around and Boise that was better poised than UCF is currently. Pitt still plays in an NFL stadium and that didn’t seem to hold them back.

    It’s the truth. I have yet to meet one person irl that cares one bit about AAC championship trophies, not one. I have however met tons of people that cared about big wins against marquee programs.

    If people remember marquee wins for any period of time that’s longer than they will remember an AAC championship of which they don’t even know exist much less bother to learn who won. If you have anything to be proud of it’s the NY6 victories in bowls people care about and against teams people know, the only way to win the AAC is to win a spot on the lifeboats out of it.

    Was this the rivalry excitement some were hoping to generate? Because I’m still not impressed, UCF just doesn’t do it for me or pretty much anyone with any standards.

    Just a friendly reminder as our fanbase lacks any type of excitement going into this “rivalry” weekend that playing UCF annually and annointing them our rival has always and will always be a stupid notion for our program that has brought us nothing but dragging us down to their level, just as many of us predicted and our only true captain of the ship in history so wisely tried to navigate us away from.

    Remember that time I went to a UCF board and tried to show how great our atmosphere was because of our hand sign? Ya me neither. You do a poor mans PSU and I’m not impressed, sorry.

    They are doing the exact same thing, it begs for comparison and that comparison isn’t favorable.

    Most people would make a list as 2017: division/ conference champion unless of course they were trying to stretch their list and didn’t feel it was quite as adequate as they were trying to report.
