  1. If it were brunch with bottomless mimosas and a Bloody Mary bar I could definitely understand the outrage, but this is lunch. I don’t think the market for that outside of the business world is as strong as this board may skew, as I don’t think the average person would be aware the event was going on and even if they accidentally became aware would ruin the middle of their Saturday to attend.
  2. I mean sure unimportant things like those, the scrimmage, bar crawls, rallies and countless other events with mixed attendance results but how many lunches?
  3. The good news is if I had to pick something to be excluded from it would probably be the bore on I-4 which it turns out was not a package deal entry into the P5 and simply a hand up for people we had left for dead long ago
  4. Maybe they do not want to exclude people that are not otherwise the target of the event and can help fill in the gaps of attendance if they so choose
  5. This is targeting people who work if anything that’s the driving force for the day time and location. It does not work for you but not every event can and if they thought they would get better results on their aim I believe they would be having it on a weekend (or at least I’d like to think they would).
  6. I want to know why the last Saturday event with zero cost of entry and free lunch items had maybe 10 people not associated with the event and probably half of them were @BDYZR ‘s family. Perhaps the problem is the pool of people looking to spend money on having lunch at a USF event on their Saturday isn’t quite large enough to merit trying to have it, but historically we have created events where our coaches or others will show up if someone wants to test the market. What if maybe it’s actually as simple as the former players and others being asked to attend don’t want to give up a Saturday afternoon on a USF lunch? Are they required to give up more to create equality in the events or will it be just as satisfactory if just the head coach is there? Some people may not be able to walk to the event and break Shabbat on a Saturday others may not be willing to go on the Sabbath on Sunday so I’m starting to thing maybe we just shouldn’t have any events if we can not have the exact same events at infinite times to accommodate people that do not think the event is important enough to make accommodations in their schedules for but want to go bad enough that the market would be there for an endless amount of lunches.
  7. Or that but it’s kind of hard for them to have every event be tailored to every groups personal needs. Some people work days, some people work nights, some people travel, some people work weekdays, some people work weekends, some people don’t work, some people require child care, some people like Saturday morning games, some like evening, not sure anyone likes afternoons, some can make weekday games work, some find it easier to get the away games…. This event is targeting a specific type of customer that is downtown more than likely a business and going to bring a table of clients or coworkers that would be less likely to make it on the weekend, why is this event so special that it must be replicated on the weekend or why are people that can’t make it so special that they should have it on the weekend and not have something for the people they are targeting for the event? If we start playing the spring game or actual games on weekdays during business hours that maybe an issue that is negatively impactful to fandom but I don’t think this should reach that level for most. I have not been to a USF-UCF game since we stated playing them on Black Friday but I hardly anticipate they should change it simply because the game doesn’t work for me. I love a reason to be outraged and complain about USF athletics as much as anyone but I just don’t see a way to be outraged about this, if anything it’s the kind of thing they should be doing.
  8. It was a joke about you saying I take opposing views, so I of course took the opposing view as I think it’s important to be consistent and meet expectations
  9. They can take the cheaper path of taking the half day off, seek employment that has more flexible hours or determine a lunch time event isn’t that horribly important to them, there are no solutions in life only trade offs
  10. 1) anything you do for a job instantly stops being enjoyable watch people playing golf for a living, do they look like they are having fun? 2) I hate literary constraints and most people would not like a two thousand page book that has one paragraph consisting of 5 or 6 sentences 3) I lose interest really quickly and focusing on one thing for a very long time with no immediate payoff sounds really hard I think if I had to do it I would prefer speech writing, editorial writing or punching up jokes but there really is nothing I am good at creating on my own from scratch and I am better at fixing what’s broken, making improvements or reverse engineering what someone else did. So if someone said write whatever you feel like I would come up with nothing but if they said write about this and make it sound like this or take this and make it better I think I could probably manage that.
  11. Perhaps but the good news is they are never more than a few weeks from paid time off, only work like 180 days with kids, are off by 2 and still get other days that they can take off besides the absurd full calendar of off days they already have to try to recuperate from all of those hazards.
  12. I felt attacked that you could consider anyone can make a serviceable attempt at being me
  13. I consider the even less than banker hours to be a life of leisure
  14. Did you change it to that or was it moderated? I don’t mind being needlessly attacked as there is no bad publicity and most of it isn’t from lack of effort
  15. It’s probably been a while but I remember having a whole lot more time off and shorter hours than anyone else I knew that worked in the private sector. It is probably one of the tougher part time jobs but still a part time job none the less.
  16. I’m confused are you giving up your life of leisure or going back to the classroom?
  17. Yes minor league NFL, have you ever wondered why the most popular sport in America has the most failed attempts at creating a league below it? It’s because that league already exists and is called college football. Not all minor league teams are subsidized by a parent but the subsidy in this instance is athletes it requires do not enter into the league until they have a passed time that almost requires they go to a school. One which does not care if they graduate as long as they perform well enough to make their stay worth having had offered them a scholarship and if they ever feel the athlete no longer serves their athletic needs they can pull their scholarship no matter what their academics look like. You can call that whatever you would like but it’s pretty offensive to call it charity, especially when every person working for that charity is taking the lions share of the contributions.
  18. I would love to know how the take is wrong? College football is minor league NFL and if they have requirements to keep you on scholarship or help you find a new better fit if they need the space why can’t fans have requirements for their charity?
  19. If losing five games in the SEC means you definitely didn’t win a National Championship in not too sure about the fact we can sit in with recruits and say any more honestly that we have a chance that’s much greater than we had before playoff expansion.
  20. If you don’t do well in the classroom on an education scholarship they will pull your scholarship, if you don’t do well in athletics and they need to fill the spot they will pull your scholarship even if you are getting straight A’s. If it were a charity they would be concerned about getting the best students or the most in need of educational support but that’s not a very big factor at all and if you have made the rules where your scholarship is for a year and subject to renewal no matter what your academic standing is then you can’t really cry that people aren’t being charitable enough when you are not quite AAC material either (which is a shockingly low standard to at least be mediocre at).
  21. It's not your memory, we have not met. I just tried to see if you wanted to meet in the common area of the club during a game we were getting blown out when from pictures posted at the game there was realization that we were in the same general area.
  22. I did try to meet up with you once when I realized we were in boxes that were pretty close to each other but I’m sure I am missing out more so than you are.
