  1. Yes undue. This isn’t a real charity it’s sports entertainment. If you are playing football as your charitable contribution to the community people are going to be a little less understanding of it than if you haven’t quite cured cancer or fed every child. In those things you have an actual value to the community here if you are adding more grief to people’s lives and further embarrassing the university we probably wouldn’t be any less served from a contribution standpoint if you simply stopped pretending and just went away. Every single year the NCAA takes steps away from the charade that there really is much of a line between pro and college sports and we can hopefully at some point stop our lies that this has anything to do with academics (which the university has plenty of actual scholarships for). Every single pro and college team has their attendance impacted by their win percentage and if MK doesn’t like that he should solve it like most of them do, by actually trying to win some games.
  2. All the more reason to celebrate the undue support you are receiving from the community in the face of constant failure
  3. The good news is he was at a Rays game the other day so I’m sure he picked up some pointers on how to out draw, out spend, have better facilities and greater support than your competitors. Could you imagine how much that 6 game lead on the Yankees would shrink if NY fans ever got on board with their team like the Tampa fans? Imagine if Yankee stadium were the palace that is Tropicana Field or if they could spend their way to success the way that the Rays have. Thank G-d all that groundswell of support was able to beat out NY and therefore manufacture wins before they could catch up…
  4. You do realize both of their current directions is downward, right? That’s what makes this current call to action so bizarre. Most people wait until they can sell that they are on the right path and to jump on the bandwagon before it’s too late because to ask people to get on this bus is a tough sell
  5. I think we really missed the “boat” on not hiring him to coach from the Pirate ship, he probably would have paid us to do it. I’m not sure if we would have won more but at least it would have been fun and we would finally have a reason to have a pirate ship in our stadium.
  6. I’ll break it down more simply if I was in an administration where he didn’t give birth to my program would I want to deal with CJL’s ****? Probably not but that head coaches decide to put him in charge of their defense, repeatedly, probably speaks more to his coaching abilities than decisions by non football people usually driven by non football reasons
  7. He didn’t give me **** and I’m politely indifferent to him but to pretend that head coaching is a meritocracy where only the best have the positions and those that don’t are worse is at best naive
  8. I can think of at least 4 current head coaches that he seemed to do better than in the most comparable of all circumstances but sure let’s go with that. When the Raiders’ current coach was doing commentary was it simply because he wasn’t as good as the 32 other coaches that were head coaches each year for the greater part of a decade?
  9. Never once said I was changing my team or leaving the board, just that I’m not too sure giving money to someone that’s only plan for success is to blame people for not giving them enough money is something I would like to do. It’s my life experience that people that fail miserably with x dollars and do not create a path towards improvement in their current state will only fail more spectacularly with 3x, 10x, 100x dollars. A successful operation finds improvements with what they have and creates an organic path to growth and money. Give me more money and I will miracle my way to success just rings a bit hollow to me and I would like to know what each dollar will specifically be spent on and exactly how many wins each of those wins is expected to garner as I have a hard time believing we will shake out another $50 million and that’s currently the budget of a single FCS win.
  10. You don’t negotiate with terrorists that have picked a conclusion and found an investigation to try to reach it on. Some boosters had decided it was time to move on from the plateau and one way or another CJL was leaving. You may as will die fighting and get your pay out because peace is but a mirage. I think it’s funny that people try to argue that he hasn’t done something since he has left you would think jobs at Oregon, the Niners, FSU etc and being a DC at multiple stops is a whole hell of a lot closer to head coach at USF (especially at this point) than we have come to getting back to that horrible plateau
  11. Pretty sure that Joel Miller later decided in life that it wasn’t that stupid (and he isn’t changing his mind now), Brett moved on to greener pastures and the number of people that would have cared about him doing something that every other person that has played any sport has had done to them would be measured in the tens of people, most of whom do not even watch sports. The reason people still clutch their pearls and act like they gave a single **** about slapgate is because of how embarrassingly wrong they were about the brighter future CJL was holding us back from. I’m actually embarrassed for them but I’m sure it will all be worth it next season… or maybe the next one. At some point it has to be right, doesn’t it?
  12. Probably not but there are few paths that could have followed a worse course than the rudderless ship we decided to embark on.
  13. And we have put a lot of work into getting it back that way (actually no reputation would be better than the bad one we have put so much effort into maintaining, but at least we can show everyone our moral superiority trophy that sits right next to our capital one mascot of the year).
  14. Want to bet on which one people would have forgotten about by this time? If anything the story never died because it’s been survived by what could have been and is breathed new life by every passing failure.
  15. Wackos can only be second in charge they can’t be first, obviously
  16. Then it probably shouldn’t have been much of a concern to her
  17. Would you argue the athletics program has been positive to the reputation of the university with the path followed?
  18. Especially when you consider the context of the conversation where having facilities that look like castles compared to the trailers we started in means that a program can only beat a single FCS team and it’s the fans fault for not being supportive enough of our constant failings and squandered opportunities, but ya that whole winning with absolutely nothing thing just didn’t quite cut the mustard.
  19. Consider he went .625 in building the program from nothing to BCS while everyone else that has tried the job has gone .473 while tearing down the program he built from scratch (it’s only that close because the guy that just got fired had the only other winning record) that’s a pretty hot take. It made more sense when people get that way 5 coaches ago than it does after seeing what a sampling of coaches would actually do here, they were wrong and it’s really not even disputable at this point. For some perspective all CJS has to do to reach the leader in the clubhouse is go 14-0 this coming season and if you want to let him take an organic approach of winning one more game and losing one less game a year we are a short 14 years from him catching him when we go 14-0. IDK but given what you would expect a coach to do here that seems pretty above average to me and really only made sense as an argument when you had no other data. Well now we have been challenging rather regularly, not for championships obviously just challenging
  20. You would think universities would be more inclusive and stop being such ableists, do better
  21. I’m not a sports sociologist but I think the fact that every other team in the Tampa area (much to my chagrin) is managing to be champa bay and you can barely manage to win a game and seem to be losing more every season under your leadership may have something to do with the financial woes more so then them supporting your failure (more than your deserve) has to do with why you can’t buy a win.
  22. All of this suffering cannot be for not right? Like maybe we get rewarded in a Bulls after life or something. I just hate when the person charged with something blames the consumer for their failures. The market is never wrong and people are spending their dollars somewhere, come up with a reason to make it on you. Well also I just like complaining and being outraged. If not for anger I’m not sure I would know what it’s like to feel.
