  2. Are ya sure it was BEER they were throwing at you?
  3. PERFECT! We will just buy each season ticket holder life insurance before they start sitting in the radio active stadium. Then when they all start dying of cancer early...well...we can then afford a much better stadium!
  4. Shhhhhh. You guys suck.... Remember how bad I'll Taught Ya English was and she is on ESPN now...don't let others know how good he is or he will get a better gig! Greg you suck!!!!
  5. We need a coach with the right philosophy. We need a coach that is willing to be risky. We need a coach with a "Welcome Aboard" tattoo on his "member"...... Lt. Comd. Dodge:All right, ladies and gentlemen. We have fulfilled every requirement of this mission except one: Norfolk A Big East Title. Presently, there are several ships teams positioned outside the harbor to intercept us. To get in, we're gonna have to use a tactic that is somewhat bizarre, and extremely risky. If any of you feel it's not worth it, please let me know now. Seaman Stanley 'Spots' Sylvesterson:Uh, actually, sir, I think we prefer to go with the bizarre and risky. Worked for us so far. (This is NOT a bring Leavitt back thread.....) But compare and contrast the feelings of leaving the Georgia Southern game November 15, 1997 with a loss vs. leaving the Pitt game with a loss this year. Some may not remember the game but Georgia Southern was 9-2 and destin for a playoff bid in the I-AA ranks. We were a young start up team that was 4-6. Georgia Southern gets a go ahead touchdown with 7:32 left in the quarter. The score is 24-17. USF takes the kickoff and drives from our own 37 down to score a TD with 1:32 to go in the game. Everyone in the stadium knew an extra point would tie the game and give us at least a moral victory. Screw that....when Leavitt raised two fingers on the sideline the stadium errupted. We were going for the two point conversion and the win!!! Unfortunately Chad Barnhardts pass attempt was not completed and USF LOST 24-17. I don't think there was a fan in the stadium who did not understand the message we received that night. WE WILL GO FOR THE WIN. It did not matter who we were supposed to be, it did not matter who our opponent was or how they were ranked. We would punch them in the face and give it our best shot at victory. Contrast that with a coach who when down 16-0 doesn't call time-outs when his team is in scoring position, instead he allows time to run down and kicks a field goal for some kind of moral victory. Our next coach needs to be more like Todd Dodge. We need a coach with a tattoo on his johnson that says "Welcome Aboard, were going for the WIN!"
  6. The press on Chico regarding his time at Arizona was the same as what we complained about here. He may be a great guy but I never liked our offense under him. Perhaps that was personel issues. Here is a thread from ASU's message board with fans discussing his terminiation: http://forum.goazcats.com/showthread.php?t=69544
  7. I HATED CHICO and was happy to see him go. He used that philosphy that we are going to line up, see what the defense is doing, then the QB will look to the sideline and the coach will audible and then we run the play. The only problem was we were very predictible and the other teams coaches would line up the defense one way, we would audible and they would then switch the defense long before our play started. I always thought some good defensive coordinators were out strategizing him into audibling right into what they wanted us to do. That and we use to call out the plays based on down and distance. Slow RB Draw, Slow RB Draw, poor pass play/slow QB draw. Ugh...
  8. Holtz is right, if he had talent, great talent, perhaps talent that someone else had recruited, that talent may have been enough to overcome his coaching faults. His time management, and game strategy skills can suck as long as his team has much more talent than the other team he is playing. What some people (not us) fail to see is the crappy coaching decisions he makes during the game. Anyone with an XBox, WII, Calecovision, or even the Mattel Classic football game could manage some of the on field decisions better than Skip Holtz. Skip isn't making excuses for his team, he is making excuses for his poor coaching.
  9. Let's go people we have a game to Tempo this week. Everyone knows we cannot win, so lets not try to win, let's not try to score. If we set our expectations low enough, we might just meet our expectations. TEMPO THE BEARCATS!
  10. It is sad when the announcer that thinks Miami is just 100-150 miles down the road knows that we should be calling time outs in that situation. What is next? Skip punting on 2nd down so our kids dont feel dejected by not getting a first down?
  11. Yes, you can request a medical if a kid does not play in more than 4 games and if he is not available to return for season. There is a bit more to the rule: A player can compete in 30 percent of a team's games – instead of 20 percent – in the first half of the season and still be eligible for a medical hardship waiver.
  12. I shed a tear ... To be honest, I held my breath until Jon caught it and took off. I held my breath until I heard "post posession foul"! I was thinking he was gonna wave the "Fair Catch" sign. That thing hung up there longer than most punts!
  13. stoo wearing the bags. After the way we played tonight you should wear pillow cases. That way you are ready for the pillow for the pillow fight you are about to witness....
  14. It was only a few years ago we had a kid on the Butkus Award watch list...when they interviewed his high school football coach, his coach said something to the effect of "They took a kid that was a backup for our high school and made him a Butkus Award candidate. My my how times have changed... Do you remember who the player was? VASSAY MARC: Linebacker, 6-2, 230 CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Named to the Butkus Award "watch list" in the preseason and was considered an NFL prospect until a season-ending neck injury. ... Was on his way to his best season, with 33 tackles (five for a loss), three forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks in five games. ... Had 79 tackles in 1998, including six for a loss (two sacks). NOTABLE: His 2000 season was cut short because of a herniated disc in his neck. He has not played since Sept. 30 against Troy State. ... May still be able to participate in NFL combines this winter and spring. ... Earned a college scholarship despite playing only special teams at Miami Northwestern High. QUOTABLE: "Me not playing, it hurts me so much because ... I helped start this. It brings tears to my eyes knowing I won't be able to (play). I'm going to come out with the team, but it's not going to be the same." 12 years > "only a few years ago" .... Apparently times changed a while back. Ya, a bit confused here Yeah but 12 years ago and a "few" years ago we had Leavitt. How many times do you expect a staff to take a 2nd stringer from high school and make him one of the top players in the country at his position. But Leavitt recruited diamonds in the rough without benefits most coaches had...

  16. Daniels? I would say he has at least matured a bit. If you mean he has grown facial hair, maybe. If you mean he has become some type of better QB, NO FRIGGIN WAY.
