  1. Well...assuming they're paying attention...there's the very real possibility that USF would become more attractive as there's the good chance they could get some playing time immediately!
  2. Wait a minute...did you factor in your drive time from Riverview to Elmers?
  3. Gotta agree. 8-3, 7-4 hog the bulk of the votes. That wouldn't necessarily be an improvement (overall) from last year, given the schedule, but I'm willing to bet nobody on this board ever, for one split-second, ever considered losing to Army. Unrealistic....hmmmm. I dunno. Shocked at the apparent dropoff. I'd say yep. Un uh. We'd have phenomenal severance packages and - coupled with our newly acquired off time - spend even more time on the board!!! "Never underestimate the power of a baseless expectation and flawed polling decisions." -C. Michael Armstrong, AT&T
  4. Oh...I see how it is...little white pieces of cereal, swimming in a clearly segregated bowl of all-white milk. I'll bet if a Cocoa Puff fell in there, the Cheerios would all pack up and move to the more suburban part of the breakfast table. Just another example of "The Man" trying to keep a brother down.
  5. 1) The winner...................................USF 2) The final score...............................27 X 24 3) Bulls total offensive yards..............302 4) Bulls leading receiver .................... Bain
  6. I think, once you start dipping into the third shirts, you're pretty much tossing in the towel on the season. Are you willing to say - right here, right now - the season is a wash and we want to get this guy - who may very well wind up third-shirt next year - some game time? As for the Auburn xfer. Everybody wants to be QB...but it could just be that CJL thinks this feller would make a pretty nice CB. Just because you wanna be QB, doesn't necessarily mean the head coach is signing off
  7. Hey sport, let's keep the common sense to a minimum, ok? That pretty much defeats the purpose of the board.
  8. Ask him what? If his injuries were painful? He spent more time in the whirlpool than he did on the field. This kid did not cut it at USF. I think he's playing IAA ball back up north now.
  9. Huh? The sad news is that it is that the QB - or in our case lack thereof - is the pivotal point on your offense. And if receivers are " a wash" , how bout Julmiste going for something like 1 for 15. So which is it? QB or receiver...or ... dare I say it...BOTH! Sorry amigo, but the USF team we are working with this year is not as athletic, talented, skilled as last year - and last year we were hanging on by the skin of our teeth to win games (remember ECU?). Un uh...this is by no stretch of the imagaination the same - or comperable team - to which we've grown accustomed.
  10. OK...I'll play. Outline your changes, and don't just go vague on "new Offensive Coordinator". You have to supply a name...a specific OC that you think can be brought to USF. And don't post something like "Let's see if we can get QBx to trasfer from school-x and play for the Bulls". If you've got legit ideas...here's your chance to post 'em. Remember...just because it's new doesn't make it better. The OC doesn't call all the shots, he still has to answer to the head coach (again, JL). And it is your head coach that "paints" the team (he's never going to hire a co-ordinator or position coach that is 180 from his coaching philosophy). Bottom line: USF does not - this year - have the talent we have enjoyed in the past. There is no J.R.Reed, Shurron Pierson, or Marquel Blackwell...so the losses do not necessarily point to the constant (coaching) as much as they do the the variable (players). 8)
  11. Yeah...but what does that have to do with bulls games on DVD? It's only us board rats who live and die by this crap, not the general public. For business venture, we should focus on getting more than 30K into the stadium rather than tout burning DVDs as a "next step" step. It's going to be a very small market that would purchase them anyway (games are on the tube , so tape 'em yourself). The problem we ran up against was compressing one game to one DVD. We didn't want multiple disks per game.
  12. Ahhhh....collective voices of reason. Truly refreshing! While it is true the upsets happen, that is exactly what we were on the receiving end of when Army came to town. Unfortunately, it was a conference loss, so there's really no way to make up for that (losses to Southern Miss and L'ville were not entirely unexpected). I'd say three of the next four are do-able, but right now I'd have to put all my chips on 50% and flip-a-coin on Pitt. We're not going to a bowl game this year - obviously - and given the way things are shaking out, would you really want another televised loss?
  13. Here...have a slice of reality pie. As long as you field a college team you are going to have up and down years...and our up years have not really set the world on fire. It's not like we beat SDSU, UK, Baylor, Oklahoma, Arkansas and have augered into the dirt. We've been very fortunate to win close games last year (oh yeah, overtime against ECU ... now there's something to be proud of). The level of competition is going to remain - or get better - from this point forward. This would be a good time to stop pretending that the pseudo-Nat'l Champion Bulls have thrown in the towel. And to answer your question directly....no, I am not ready to join you in calling for CJL's head. And neither is anyone else who has a modicum of understaning of college football. Then again, there's no entrace exam for the board, so I guess we will continue to suffer through posts such as yours... :
  14. World beaters? World beaters?? What team have you been watching? Is it the same team that lost to Kentucky & Baylor? Is it the same team that had to go into overtime to win against ECU ? Time to make sure you're not watching audio from one feed and video from another. USF had 'reasonable' success since we started playing IA ball. Anything prior to 2001 is pretty much practice under the lights. Do not be decieved...tying for third in CUSA does not make you a 'world beater'. Bowl? Un uh. Not gonna happen. We are exactly what we are. When the talent graduates - this is what you have to deal with. The problem with USF is that it's looked 'too easy' year before last (recall that we did not set the world on fire last year!!!!!!).
  15. Heard it here first.... Is there not a line from the Marvin Gaye tune "Heard it Through the Grapevine" , to the effect that one "should be glad for what you see, not at what you hear."? That being the case, I've seen that this year - we are notches below where we've been in the past and we're playing legit teams across the board. Just another season in college football. That's what I see. Oh...and in case anyone asks, no...I do not believe in miracles. We're just gonna have to ride this one out.
  16. Continued injuries. He was hyped but never panned out. Gotta do a lot better than a slick web site to get playing time. He was basically over-rated from day one. If he was the ****, he would have beat out what we have for starters now....and obviously during his tenure here that never happened. Hoping and wishing don't feed the bulldog. 8)
  17. Did you ask him about the hat? Did you ask him why no USF memoribilia?
  18. Latest development? That's about , oh I don't know, almost five years behind the time? Timing is the issue...if the lot doesn't open until three hours before the game (as the regular lots do now), I don't see much of an incentive. BTW: might want to re-think the "support HCC" angle. If you really want to support your school via parking revenue, you'll spring for a season parking pass from USF.
  19. There is no HCC/USF relationship. Why would we offer them any sort of discount? Granted, you can xfer in from HCC after your AA, but the HCC student could encompass a bunch of forty-year olds taking an art class. You can afford to take a class at HCC...you can afford a ticket. Continue to work on it. 8)
  20. The official entry: 1) The winner.....................................USF 2) The final score...............................24 X 20 3) Bulls total offensive yards.............382 4) Bulls leading receiver ...................Sheffiled. My gut reaction: L'ville 45, USF 9. : By the way....Bullbackers watch party @ Elmers tomorrow night. See you there.
  21. Well...considering that we single handedly doubled the number of CUSA wins for Army this year...I would say yes, yes it is that bad. Remember, L'ville let UM slip off the hook.
  22. Focus was on L'ville - how the win over Miami could have been huge - Brohm / LeFors background, win CUSA . Not much more than the fact that L'ville is actually playing USF. 8)
