We pretty much have to beat ECU (who beat Army), beat Cincinnati (at Cincy), beat Memphis here....and then we get to chit-chat about beating Pitt. If any of the first three come up "L"....Pitt is our bowl game.

My homies over at ESPN are running a promotion "19 days of football". To accomodate this, there's the Sunday night pro-game, college on Thursday & Saturday. However....they're also putting on games, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday...etc. So....we *****-n-moan about moving games to Fridays, but I wanted to hear what you thought about this moving games to every night of the week. Granted, we're not involved (well...there was that UAB thingy), but if they do it in 2004, I see no reason why they won't do it henceforth. I think last night was Uconn & Norhtern Illinois (or some such MAC event). I don't think you're gonna see the BCS teams playing on this sort of schedule. Whaddya think? Is this sports charity? Face it...the odds of me down in Tampa watching Uconn & Northern Illinois are pretty danged remote unless you DO put it on a weeknight. Is this taking advantage of the have-nots?

Well....maybe there is something to this IAA FAMU band thing...if the teams sucks (3-6 thus far), maybe the highly-touted band can suit up:

Yep...the season is FAR from over. As far as I'm concerned, all we did was flip one-for-one (expected loss at UAB, expected win over Army). And ECU beat Army, soooooo..... Again, it depends on what you want to discuss...possibilities or probabilities. I lean more towards probabilities and wouldn't be at all surprised if we lose to Memphis and Pitt. I'm gonna spot us ECU & Cincy, but if we lose either (or both!) of them, it's not like it will be completely unexpected. I enjoy the games one at a time, but honestly - do you think this is a bowl caliber team? A couple of years back, North Texas - with a losing record, but winning record within their conference - got to some bowl game. I really think there's very few bowl games that have merit (and too many bowl games to start with) so I really would not want to see my mediocre alma mater get into a bowl game because they're the best of the worst. :

Obviously, whoever writes this is probably slightly dumber than whoever is supposed to edit this stuff. It does get edited - fact checked - right? Fellas....hey....edited?

We just got a mention about our (a) passing completions (or lack thereof) and (b ) our win over UAB last night. :

Too many games were televised to make purchasing a compilation product worthwhile. If you wanted it...you had the opportunity to tape it. Besides, it's not like this is a phenomenal year.

And now we understand why God made checkbooks. ;D

****! I must have been at the concession stand. ...the point being that, if you're gonna trot out the "they have a good band" as a salve for another IAA game, you're really reaching.

Soooo....you can pretty much guarantee that the FAMU band will perform at halftime. The reason I mention that is because I don't seem to recall seeing any opposition bands performing in the past. Seems to me we had some high-school bands the first year or so, but that's about all I recall.

I'll take your word for it. But honestly...I didn't buy season tickets to sit and listen to trombone players. IAA is IAA...

Wouldn't you necessarily have to have "wheels" in the first place, for them to ever 'come off'? I don't know 'bout the rest of you fellas, but I'm not sitting here thinking that this team is going to be anything but - a minor, if that - improvement over last years team. I think Velcro is pretty close to it.

Well...that's, I guess, good in a way. I don't particularly care about another IAA game, but at least this one is not quite as obscure as some other options.

I doubt a win over UAB would sway the anti-Leavitt crowd. To do so would be an admission of how fickle they are. I think the season broke with the loss to Army. UAB is playing well and it 's a road game. :

My question would be: Has Spurrier publicly stated - for the record - that if asked, he would return? I know there's a lot of BB fodder, but I would think that it would be difficult to go back. The bottom line being, some of the shine is off the halo. Perhaps the Unsinkable Steve Spurrier is not the be-all and end-all he was made out to be (abject failure in the pro ranks). Then again, I never was a break-up & make-up kind of guy.

In looking over the participants...I think it will take some time to get to middle-of-the-pack. These aren't just average teams. They're all very good. I think five years to get to .500 is fair.

I dunno sportsfans. Given that UAB is playing strong - and I think will likely win on Wednesday - coupled with the Cincinnati win and the ECU win (by 10) over Army, I'd be inclinded to put all my chips on the "aint going" square.

Well...gotta admit...discussing USF football (thanks guest) is a lot better than gnawing on the tough reality of life in the Citrus Canker Bowl.

Well....it's a down year for USF, but I can think of some places (left on Gunn, exit to 275 South, exit I-4 east....keep going, keep going...there...that's it. The one with the huge mushroom cloud...) that need coaching revamps more than USF.

Google turns this guy up as some sort of pseudo-wrestler relative to USF. Is this related to that other WWF stuff you put out here?

A: productive would necessarily have to be a modicum of improvement from week to week, regardless of W/L record. A. Yes...imagine languishing in IAA land for 12 years. A. Yes...success being measured on overall progress. To go from not having a team to where we are now in seven years. There's schools that have been around a lot longer than us who would love to have our problems. A. Being able to compete within our conference to avoid finishing in the lower half. While conference champion is a reasonable goal within the next five to seven years, I don't think we'll see a Nat'l Championship for a long, long, long time. A. You use the term ultimately. By that , there is no end timeframe. If you are really asking will USF ever compete equally in football and basketball, yes - when they're middle of the pack. But ultimately, I think USF will garner more success football (over time) than it ever will in basketball. Why? How long have we had a basketball team?

I have to be productive at the office. The board is just a place to goof off. It ain't like any of us are on the USF payroll....
