Was watching the ACC commissioner press conference on the ACC Network just now, and he definitely has a soft spot for the non (so-called) P5 schools. He mentioned that he left Notre Dame to work as AD at a non-P5 school and that he saw just as much enthusiasm in those athletes and believes they deserve to not be left behind by the changes happening in college sports today. He used a neighborhood analogy, and said something along the lines of all neighborhoods should be in the discussion (for participation in an expanded playoff, not breaking up D1 into sub-divisions, etc.), not just the "gated communities" (i.e. P5 or P whatever # it will be). Oh, and when someone asked him about saying 17 teams instead of 15, he corrected himself but also had a huge grin on his face (maybe he was just embarrassed, or maybe he knew he got caught spilling the beans...). None of this means USF is going to the ACC, of course, but a Bull can dream, right?
