  1. ucf can't get any higher than they were last year. They can only go down from there, but they deserve to be ranked. fau being ranked is a joke I don't care what "trajectory" they want to be on. They didn't have a single decent win last year and didn't they lose some key starters. They play in the crap CUSA and could go undefeated every year and I still wouldn't buy them being ranked in the Top 25. If they can manage an upset at OU, then I'll eat my crow but otherwise they shouldn't even sniff Top 25.
  2. What an absurd article. ucf is the only team in that group with any hope. And what is up with the fau love? lane's agent is working overtime
  3. Why is FAU ranked? They started last season getting waxed by Navy and Wisconsin and losing to BUFFALO (the Bulls, not the Bills). They run the table in the crappy CUSA and beat up on Akron at home in a bowl game and now they are one of hte top 25 teams in the country? Give me a break.
  4. Darren Sproles is 5'6" and has survived. The low center of gravity and if he has the ability to avoid direct hits, then he may be ok. I'd imagine he'll see more touches out in the open as opposed to between the tackles
  5. I guess you mean last second FGs, but I have a feeling we are going to need some clutch kicks during the course of the season
  6. He should definitely be in the running. Bob Melvin deserves some votes
  7. Blake Barnett after he leads us to a national title, wins the heisman, and goes #1 in the draft
  8. I like to think of them as preseason games to work out the kinks. If we need an FCS team to get bowl eligible, then we shouldn't be in a bowl
  9. Agree about the revenue for FCS and I don't mind seeing them there occasionally, but there are over 60 P5 schools to play them and most of the G5 schools are not even beginning to think about SOS for making the playoffs so they should be able to fill the void
  10. I don't really have a problem playing an FCS team as a "tune up", but there is no doubt that our conference schedule is piss poor compared to the P5 conferences and if we want to have any shot at playing with the big boys in January we have to limit those games so we can schedule more P5 teams like we are doing going forward. The schedule we have laid out in 2020 would give us some legitimate claim to a playoff spot if we run the table. If we want a "tune up" game, it will probable need to be an FAU, FIU, Central Michigan, etc. type of team going forward
  11. https://www.floridatoday.com/story/news/education/2017/02/13/state-college-system-faces-rebranding/97878228/ Bill Law, the college’s president who is retiring this June, said the move to change the college names came in part from the accreditation process under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). He said as more Florida colleges sought to offer baccalaureate degrees, SACS insisted the schools change their names to reflect the fact that they were offering four-year degrees. Law said the name-change rule is still on the books but “is no longer the operative rule” under the SACS process.
  12. I had to look up Eastern Florida State College aka the JUCO formerly known as Brevard Community College. http://www.easternflorida.edu/
  13. This is true, but the point is relevant to USF, but not CCS future so I'm with ya
  14. Hell yeah last year is going to matter. They went 13-0 and finished by beating a P5 team in a NY6 bowl game that some thought should have been in the playoff. They follow that up with another 13-0 including two more P5 wins, then people are going to notice and expect there will be pressure on the committee to act. If the committee ignores it again, then there will be an uproar that goes beyond mickey mouse land. If enough meaningful people are included in that uproar then the powers that be are going to care. They don't need to G5 teams to go anywhere, they are already **** out of luck because of the stupid system. I don't care because 1) it's ucf so f*** 'em and 2) that very well may propel the expansion of the playoffs to give ALL D1 teams a reasonably legit chance at a D1 title run just like they have in every other sport or just split D1 in half. It's ridiculous to have a team that is D1 go 13-0 and win their conference and have no shot at a championship in D1, but under the current system it's reality.
  15. I think it would go deeper than message boards. 26-0 including the NY6 win last year and a couple P5 wins this year. I think the only way the powers that be could try and justify keeping them out would be 4 teams going undefeated in the P5 conferences. There will be a major push to expand the playoffs if that happens
  16. I don't think the AAC opponents can have outstanding enough years to really matter, but even if your first two parts occur, the fact that your last part still says MIGHT speaks volumes. Reality is if ucf does somehow run the table again, then that would 25 in a row and they're probably in the playoff. If they aren't then that could be enough to have a serious rebellion against the establishment.
  17. I'm not sure how I "reinforced" what you said unless the goal posts are mobile. They won the ACC in 2009 (lost in the Orange Bowl), that's less than a decade ago. They've played for the conference title twice since then and won the Orange Bowl in 2014. So it's "got" them 2 New Years Day Bowls in the past decade as an ACC "bottom feeder". If in any of the next 10 years they get hot and run the table, they're playing in the playoffs. Meanwhile, we are looking for our first undefeated season in team history. And if we do pull that off in the next decade, we're most likely not playing in the playoffs (unless it's 2020 and then maybe). I'm not sure how any of that "reinforces" what you said, but hey ..... And even more importantly, none of it really has anything to do with whether CCS stays or goes if the opportunity presents itself. Which I hope it does because that means we're doing pretty well.
  18. Gtech won the ACC conference in 2009, we've never gone undefeated. I have no idea of Strong would take the job. That's going to have a lot to do with his personal goals.
  19. That's irrelevant. If Vandy or GT goes undefeated this year, they're in the playoff. No question. ucf didnt deserve to be in the playoff last year under the current set up and won't if they run the table this year either
