  1. Yep, we beat 3 P5s in a season and run the table, then we could be in the playoff.
  2. Yeah, but if we won it you and everyone else would know. And as pointed out, that helps get those bigger bowl games.
  3. I think you strive to win conference championships because that's what teams do. So yes, I think winning AAC championships will help excite and energize the fan base.
  4. Of course, but the point was we held our destiny. So yes we "could" have won a championship.
  5. I don't think any of that happens without some kicking and screaming from the current conference set up. Someone posted a story about an Amazon (I think) exec. talking about how the streaming services would be forcing the next round of "realignment" because of the changing TV watching landscape. I didn't sit down and count the number of teams in the conferences so I thought it was slightly under 64. The "super conference" set up could fluctuate to 66 or 68 teams or whatever. The key for me is that there is a set up that gives a realistic end of the season playoff. You could leave the conferences the way they are and expand the playoffs to accomplish that or split the FBS up into separate levels.
  6. I think Ford's Garage has something similar
  7. There is more than 64 teams in D1. IF you go with option 1 alone, then there are still a bunch of teams left out of the mix.
  8. This is a good point, but maybe he just wasn't cut out for that level of competition. The step down may bring out his best. Or the possible background reasons for the transfers could rear their head again. We shall see
  9. You changed your dynamic. Of course getting $$ from Texas matters, that's why we could afford him at all. Maybe he will, maybe he won't get another shot at a P5 school, but there is a big difference between the pay. Even at the $2.5M number (in 2 years), he would still make significantly more at 90% of the P5 schools and there's still that little National Championship shot thing. 3-4 more years puts him right where I've said the USF coach's shelf life is, 3-5 years. If he's retiring at 60, then you are probably right. But if he stays here beyond 3-5 years, I doubt it is because of the money unless we are getting into a P5 conference at that point.
  10. You're kidding right? CCS made a Cool $1 M last year. Over half the SEC coaches made more than 4M, all but 2 make more than 3M. Only 6 HC at a P5 conference school made less than $2M. And then there's that little thing about having no chance at a National Title at USF at the current time. I don't know what CCS plans are, but if getting paid and/or winning a National Championship is in them, then he is probably here for a few years.
  11. And that is our best shot. I think the perfect scenario is 4 - 16 team "super" conferences with the season culminating in an 8 team playoff. One step further, break D1 into multiple levels and multiple championships.
  12. That's debatable and "moxie" is subjective. All I'm saying is that the 5 Star, who has been playing against 4 and 5 stars for the past 2 years should have a leg up. If he is unable to grasp the play book and/or the 3 star is able to make plays due to his "moxie, then all can change.
  13. 1 year right? But guys have walked into a new team and had success before. Jeff Driskell from UF to La Tech comes to mind.
  14. Barnett should have the inside track on this battle. 5 star recruit and 2 years playing with top talent. Perfect scenario for a guy to step back in level of competition and put up some good numbers
  15. Ok, they don't need everyone to support every cause. Not exactly sure why you are involved in the conversation though if that is your steadfast stance.
  16. nice edit, but there has been money raised for other causes. Just another excuse
  17. lol, brain fart, but you knew what I meant. Point is there is support, but it isn't coming game in and game out for Tulsa, Tulane, etc. and a go nowhere conference. And that isn't different than the majority of places in the country
  18. No, I think people want a competitive conference. Go look at average attendance at some of these other aac schools and many of the mid majors and down. We are above average. Like I said. Michigan isn't bringing in 100K per game if they are playing in the aac. In the mean time "big name teams" at least fill that void.
  19. There were over 40K there for the alumni game against a crappy Cincy team.
  20. So then a goal to raise X dollars for something(s) is attainable if we want to put the effort in?
  21. Then USF isn't doing a very good job of making people want to see them. If Michigan played in the aac, there wouldn't be 100K strong at their games.
  22. You mean we used to fill up the stadium to play ranked teams? I can't imagine why we only put 12K in RJS to see Tulsa
