  1. Velocity is more valued than control and pitch counts are all the rage. By and large, pitchers do not throw as deep into games and bullpens are used much, much more. No doubt. There's at least 2. The Rays top pick is there right now as well.
  2. I didn't think you were bagging on him, thought you were presenting a stat. A stat that validates much of what I said about SM all season. I've never been "woe is Shane" and I'm neither elated nor testy, just sarcastic.
  3. Apparently you haven't paid attention this year. Shane's 5-6 innings of 0-2 ERs is the reason we didn't win the conference ....... But he's gone now so that elusive conference title should now be in the bag!
  4. Good point, Shane will get bitched about anyway
  5. And let's not forget that offensive lineman what'shisname
  6. We were 4th last year in attendance in the AAC I believe. And that's with turd bowl teams like Stony Brook, Temple, and Tulsa on the slate.
  7. Good news for Shane and the Rays. Bad news for some around the Pen, what are you going to have to ***** about next season?
  8. He'll be USF's Friday night starter unless there is some kind of diamond out there nobody knows about at this time. I think he is just dissatisfied with the 2.2 million offered vs. the 3 million he thought he would be getting predraft.
  9. He should sign and get his pro career started, but our pitching staff is better next year with him on it. There is absolutely no question about that.
  10. And I highly doubt he gets it from the Rays. It was discussed at draft time that they took him there because he was at a "bargain" price and they had a enough good, high picks that they could afford to take a chance on him even with signabilty concerns. They might meet him half way, but it wouldn't surprise me if they drew their own line in the sand.
  11. We averaged over 30K without a single decent draw on the schedule. I don't think the attendance is that bad. You have to stop comparing our attendance to FSU, UF, Bama, UGA, etc. Let's be realistic. Attendance stories are for lazy reporters. It's the low hanging fruit that will always get sports fans going. You automatically pit the nobrainer look at he surface fan/hater looking for something to complain about vs. the fans that actually look at the whole picture. They've been doing in Tampa Bay forever with Bucs and Rays. Ratings gold without having to do any prep.
  12. That's because we returned the best QB/player in school history and added a defensive minded HC that was expected/did shore up that defense.
  13. Win games, get into a P5 conference, watch the fan base grow
  14. Probably depends on their relationship once things get going and mostly how much he can get paid here compared to any other possible opportunities down the road.
  15. And at the end of the day, that's probably what he is really saying without actually calling out those USF alumni that still drive to gainesville for a game, but not RayJay.
  16. I'm not ********. He can say and do what he wants, but I think it's wasted energy. If you are trying to build support why not focus on those with ties to the university and the local corporations. There should be more than enough folks in those categories. You want to really build support, keep winning and building the program's profile.
  17. None of those statements are directed at me because I haven't and don't complain about attendance. We averaged over 30K last year even with storied programs like Stoney Brook, Temple, and Tulsa on that home slate. That's the upper third of our conference. I'm just responding to some comments here.
  18. I meant individual game type packages that might attract local families
  19. Were there any comments about not being able to fill half our student seats or are we just shooting for Bull Gators?
  20. Why would a gator grad/fan "support" the Bulls? I would think the more important question is why students and USF alumni are not supporting the team to the fullest extent possible. You want more butts in the seats from the community? Create more family friendly/cost effective ticket packages. But good luck with that on Thursday nights or Saturday at noon
