  1. Really? How was it an issue this season? BP didn't get rocked after he left and we were 10-2-1 on Sundays. So where was the issue?
  2. He pitched 6 in 9 out of 13 innings. Why are we still discussing this? He is what he is and unless he finds some control and more guys putting the ball in play on 1st or 2nd pitches (for outs) it isn't going to change. I'm not sure why it continues to come up at this point other than just griping to gripe. It hasn't been an issue for us thus far And PS' era was still almost 7 in his last 4 outings and he only went 7 once. Why is that not a concern?
  3. only once and I'm still trying to figure out what that has to do with our hitting .......
  4. You went back to SM. He's only allowed more than 1 ER in 4 outings this year. This was about our hitting. If we face Beckwith like performance then you are going to need great pitching as well, but if we face average performances, then I hope we can scratch more than 2 runs out
  5. By the way, PS's era over his past 4 starts is pushing 7. Hopefully, the long rest gets him going again
  6. Of course good pitching beats good hitting. Beckwith was dominate all year long and ridiculously good in the CWS. That's a little bit different story. The three WSU pitchers that held us to 2 runs last week were not Beckwith like. IF you get beat 2-1 by a guy throwing like that, then you tip your cap and say great job.
  7. I think you are really stretching things. I doubt anyone is overly impressed with USF because ucf won a couple NY6 bowl games. It all sounds nice in theory, but it just doesn't work like that.
  8. We need to score runs. We scored 2 runs in each of those losses in the AAC tourney. We can talk pitching all we want, but that's going to be tough to overcome
  9. That press conferences was one of the funniest things I've seen.
  10. You normally wouldn't save your number 1, but this is different circumstances. Although Pete didn't look all that great down the stretch
  11. It sure feels like the guy is expected to be a super hero some times. But like I said above, I could see Mohl going with PS. There are some logistical reasons to do so including the greater likely hood of him pitching deeper in the game. Maybe the solid performances this past week gives him thoughts of bringing Shane in from the pen similar to what the gators did a few years back with Puk.
  12. I was just making sure. I mean we only scored 2 runs in our last AAC game and he wasn't on the hill. I know some people want him to throw 8-9 innings every time out, but we are going to have to figure out a way to score more than 2 runs against better than average pitching if we are going to advance. Maybe we should send him to the plate. it worked for LSU the other night.
  13. OK State is no joke either. Although, that pitching staff looks hittable and we need that
  14. It wouldn't surprise me if PS started game 1. For one thing, I doubt SM is coming back to throw in the tournament, while PS could possibly come back to close if necessary.
  15. Not necessarily. Coaches make moves within those conferences. WT from Oregon to FSU. Dan Mullin from Miss. St to UF, but it may be a little less. Either way, right now we're not a P5 school and I don't see than changing soon.
  16. There's Houston Houston vs. USF Super Regional in Tampa Baby!
  17. I said it before. Our coaches have a 3-4 year shelf life tops, then they're either moving on to greener ($$$$$) pastures because of our success or getting canned because of our failures. And it's not just the $$$$, it's the more realistic shot at a National Championship.
  18. Taking a family of 4 to a minor league game is extremely cost effective. I think it's 5 bucks for a ticket to a Tampa Tarpons game. But they still only average a round 1K per game. But, you're right. There is no vested interest/appeal to the average joe living in the TB area. You're market is students and alumni and you hope to get some local football fans who don't want to pay/can't afford bucs tickets.
