And if on offense, they can get the pieces for the system, I think the goal is scoring more than 30 a game. I'm fine with high scoring nail-biters....Oh, I yearn for the good ole days of competitive football.
I'm not going to trash the guy before I do some research. How long was he at Texas? I assume you need some time to get your system up and running. Anyone is better than what we had and we probably weren't getting a top DC from another program.
He said in the press conference this was a guy who he tried to get 2 other times and couldn't and finally got him this time so I assume no one currently with Tennessee.
I chose not to renew before Scott was let go, thinking we'd have another season of rock bottom next year. I thought about renewing when he was fired, but after 5 years of mediocrity, I'm taking a season off. I've been a fan since the beginning, but I'm just not enjoying it anymore.
Not at all, but at the end of the day, none of those things guarantee wins either... I just meant, we've heard it all before and it didn't end well the first time...
This feels eerily similar to last time. He's a family man, he's a great guy, he's coming from a great program, he has something to prove, he cares about the kids, he's a hard worker. Only time will tell....
or if he stays where he is and continues to improve, he gets a DC at a P5 school. All I'm saying is he knows what he has at Tennessee while here it is an unknown which he has all ready done and been fired.
I would assume any player talented enough to get a better offer from the portal would hop in and see what happens. With the departure of the offensive talent and nothing promising on defense, this is basically a rebuild year again.
When the team was crap and he has over 200 recruits / transfers reaching out to him to come there, he can afford to clean house. I would hope our coach would tell our defense either step up and do the work or head to the portal.
Even better when they actually caught it. So many drops at the beginning of the season by anyone not named Weaver. Now that we lost the 4 contributing receivers, I wonder who will step up.
I keep hearing the "he called plays/ he didn't call plays" argument. Didn't we all ready have a decent offense? Trickett hasn't done a bad job. It was his first season and I assume would have gotten better. The defense is where we need a complete overhaul. This is a complete head-scratcher. We couldn't get the guy we wanted so we just got who was available. We don't need an offensive genius, which he isn't. He's from the midwest, he was in Florida with UCF for 2 seasons. That doesn't make him a great recruiter in Florida. I've been a fan from the beginning. I remember driving to see a scrimmage at Sarasota high school the year before they could even play another team. We've had our ups and downs over the years, but this is the last straw. Leave any important decision up to USF and they screw it up. I'm done. Call me a whiner, I don't care. I have complete apathy at this point.
So they're saying Deion and staff were in contact with portal players and recruits about coming to Colorado all this week. How does that not get leaked, if true? Crazy good luck, I guess.
As a university, you can't give Scott a long leash, but expect players to stay when he ran it into the ground. The players shouldn't have to waste their collegiate career on a losing team just because they fell for Scott's song and dance and we shouldn't expect them to stay just because we are fans. I don't blame them for getting off a sinking ship. I assume Deion is out of the picture now so no great transfers or recruits in the off-season.
