The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good - The defense played well again tonight. Held Memphis to 244 total yards and only one sustained drive. Defense can't play much better than that.

 

The Bad - Offensive execution. Yes the blame is not on the playcalling (although some calls are questionable), it is on the execution of the offense. USF had 327 yards of offense and that should result in more points than were actually scored. The reason it didn't was ...

 

The Ugly - Turnovers killed us. Four interceptions and a fumble lost (two more fumbles that weren't lost) killed drives and the momentum that the offense was trying to build. An honest appraisal of the game indicates that USF beat USF. It was not what Memphis was doing, but what USF was not doing. 

 

USF has had a train wreck of a season, but the indications are that the program is building a solid foundation. There are many mistakes out there and they are not going to go away. This is not for lack of coaching, the same mistakes are being made over and over again. The coaches have addressed this issue over and over and it is just not sinking in. Until a better group of players that are more football saavy is available this poor performance will continue.

USF looks much better than they started the season...we have the same problem...penalties and turnovers...makes you want to rip your hair out sometimes.
