I lived in Rockledge through the Apollo missions, used to watch them go over the trees from the back yard. Those were the days!

Lived in Florida all my life but only saw one shuttle launch from the east coast ... and that was inadvertently. Had stopped for gas on the way to a sales call .... was pumping the gas, looked up and saw the contrail but it didn't look quite right. I didn't know if it was just because I was closer and a different angle than what I normally watched or what. Got to my stop and found out that it had exploded.

I was downstairs in the old Engineering building when it happened. Someone ran in with the news, and we hightailed it to a grad assistant's office where there was a TV. Very sad day.
