Funny, we had just showed up on his list and then disappeared just as quick.

Now, according to Insiders we are his only #1.

Wow, thats great news, Maybe he was one of the recruits in attendence this past weekend.  Even if he doesnt sign, this is still good for recruiting, it looks good that a blue chip prospect is seriously considering us.

Hmmmm. ;D

You saw that thing about retaking the SAT/ACT in February.  That's definitely a worry.  Is Jim gonna oversign the class in the anticipation of fallout?

Miami was always his first choice but the CANES didn't offer because they KNOW he can't get in school.  His grades and test scores must be quite bad.

His GPA is 2.5, isn't that pretty normal?

Jean-Francois reports a 2.5 GPA and is retaking his ACT in Feb in order to qualify.

Besides, maybe he can be our partial qualifier like Buie was last year. I'm not sure how that works.

Not necessarily.  The Canes are just filled to the gills with recruits.  It's really a combination of him being borderline qualification (his GPA was raised again over 2.5, but he needs a test score).  UM's got 13 verbals, 2 more late enrollees from last year's class, and they only have about 16-18 scholarships, they might sign a total of 20.  That would allow them to sign a max of five.

As it stands Miami leads for Antone Smith, Kenny Phillips, Patrick Turner, Neefy Moffett, Barney, Bennett.  They have another five they could steal commitments from, including the #1 DT Udofia, who's set to announce on Sunday or Monday.  All those players the Canes can't pass on.

This is a combination of UM not having the scholarships, and having done fantastically at recruiting in the early going which makes Jean-Francois, Gordon, and Hill expendable.  Francois, and Gordon are academic borderline players (there is a good chance both will make it by August), but UM's early recruiting success and limited scholarships means they don't have to take the chance.

We do, and it's worth it.
