No DL's committed yet. Seems like their are a lot of good ones in this class, hope we are closing on a couple.

Gainesville High defensive end Jordan Williams has made a verbal commitment to play at Tennessee, choosing the Volunteers over Oregon.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior contacted Tennessee coaches last night about his decision.

Williams, who transferred from P.K. Yonge to GHS after his junior season, had eight Division I scholarship offers. Among the others were Arkansas, South Florida, N.C. State and Syracuse. His only official visit, so far, was to Oregon on Oct. 2.

Williams, a three-star recruit according to both rivals.com and scout.com, will follow his defensive line teammate, tackle Trevarris Saulsberry, who also committed to Tennessee on Aug. 2. Both are schedule to visit the Volunteers on Oct. 23 when the Vols host Alabama.

“It is a exciting day for GHS, having two players going to a big-time SEC school," said Hurricanes coach Ryan Smith, whose team plays city-rival Buchholz tonight at Citizens Field. "These are two great kids that worked really hard to get where they are. We are excited for them.â€

Williams, ranked the 44th best defensive end prospect in the nation according to both Scout and Rivals, is the 18th Vol commitment for the 2011 class.

Last year, GHS had two defensive prospects go to Miami - linebacker Kevin Nelson and defensive back Devont'a Davis.
