Jonathan Garner decommits from Florida.  He wanted to go to South Carolina, but Spurrier said no.  Weren't we recruiting him early?

was he any good?

s. bien?

I doubt you'll see much interest from the Bulls on him.  QB recruiting in the state of FL this year is painfully thin and the Bulls are as in as they can be with really the two best prospects - Grothe and Hill.

I think Beck is overrated and same with this kid from Daytona.  With the spread still being a very real part of the Bulls future I doubt you see any slow-footed QBs on the roster in the future.   Pull up the 2003 TCU game and "Sackapaloosa" for more on this subject.

Grothe is the best QB prospect in the state, so we can't do any better.  If Hill goes elsewhere than I would take him.  Competition is a good thing.

Not taking anything away from Grothe, but he is not the best QB in the state on any ranking board.  He is ranked the fifth or sixth best prospect in the state, behind Garner.  That being said, I still think he is a very good player and a very nice recruit for USF.

Grothe brings alot to the table that really cant be taught. He just has a good feel of how to play football unlike alot of QBs dont. Sure, other QBs are going to have more potential, but they will never have the intangibles to what Grothe will bring. I know I am ahead of myself right now because the kid has never played a down at the 1A college level, but I have a good feeling about this recruit.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
