Carquest/Micron/Tangerine/Champs Bowl looking to the Big East for an affliation. Most BE fans welcome this: although it is an early bowl it does pay slightly more than the minimum ($850k) the location can't be beat. All BE teams can get down there with cheap nonstop flights. A welcomed addition. I think we'll have this lineup in the future: BCS, Gator or Hall of Fame Bowl, Insight, Continental Tire Bowl, Champs Bowl. The Motor City Bowl and Cotton Bowl have agreements with the Big East but these will be rarely exercised. Not bad for 9 teams (include ND).

BTW, Cuse will beat GT tomorrow by 7.

TexasMark,

I am going to pull for Syracuse hard in the Tangerine bowl. USF would love to have that bowl tie in because it is a very close distance for us to travel to. Good luck against Ga Tech. It will be interesting to pull for the BIG EAST this bowl season.

Absolutely, this is a great pickup for the BE if they cut a deal.  Just a few months ago the "talking heads" were throwing the BE under the bus and in just this past week we get some great news.  First, UofL's finish counts towards the BE's BCS contractual finish (solidifying us some more) and second, just when some thought that bowls would start running away from the BE here comes one knocking at the door.

I have been telling the other BE fans on the BE Fan Forum site that bowls will have to realign just like conferences did and we might just might looking at the start of that process.  Does the new CUSA deserve "5" bids with Tulsa, UCF, Rice, etc.? ..........USF96

Its going to pay alot more than the minimum.. its payout is to go to 2mil.  I could see them taking BE #2 if gator fall through.. which i dont expect.. but doubt they settle for BE#3 for that kind of money..

If true--$2 million it should be BE #2, Gator only pays $1.6M.  However, more prestige playing a New Year's Day Bowl versus one earlier.  Hey Knight:  would this big payout mean they would move the game to after XMas?
