Ankle injury... possibly a sprained ankle.

The title of this thread shouldn't say "out for season," because we don't know that for sure.  If it's just an ankle injury, unless there is seriously bad ligament damage, that's NOT a season-ending injury.  At worst, he would be able to play by the Miami game.

Way too sensationalist.  Let's wait for official reports.

That article makes it seem like the ambulance was called for precautions, which are appropriate, but hopefully a sprain is all that's going on. A) For Sterling's sake, and B) He's a great athlete, would be a huge contributor to the team this year if healthy (I think), and we need him a lot!!

Wait for the official release. Sorry if I jumped the gun, but don't be surprised when it is ligament damage, and is lost for the year.

May be a bit before an MRI gets done and read, depending on where they take him. Here's to hoping for the best for him one way or the other

Bulls receiver Griffin injures ankle in workout

USF sophomore receiver Sterling Griffin, expected to contend for a starting role this fall, injured his ankle during voluntary workouts on campus Monday.

The severity of the injury isn't known, but an ambulance was called to the practice fields east of USF's athletic facility, and Griffin was taken to the hospital for X-rays. Tampa Fire Rescue confirmed that an ambulance responded at 9:20 a.m. to a call about a sprained ankle.

Monday marked the first day of classes for the Summer B semester and the first day of college classes for most Bulls newcomers. During summer classes, players have their own informal workouts without pads on -- position coaches cannot supervise workouts until the start of fall practice the first week in August.

Griffin had 14 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns as a true freshman last fall and is expected to play a larger role this season at a position where USF lacks significant experience. The Bulls lost rising senior Carlton Mitchell to the NFL draft, and another senior starter, A.J. Love, is recovering from a knee injury sustained in USF's spring game.

Times correspondent Kerry Klecic contributed to this report.

Hope he recovers quickly.

Says he was a true frosh last year, so it appears he has a redshirt year to burn, but we do need some good hands at WR this year...

Hopefully a high ankle sprain or something...the ambulance was probably used since it's a voluntary practice.  But I played ball with a guy that tore all the ligaments in his ankle as out a whole year just to rehab to walk.

Let's hope it's not that bad...
