Your logic is 'just because he's better'...ok then why did his 'better' theory not help him when he went 4-7 in his first year at ECU, and 5-6 in his first season at Uconn?

A blurb about Skip's "so so" start at ECU that I copied off of wikipedia:

Holland brought in Skip Holtz to become the Pirates nineteenth head coach. During his first year, Coach Holtz helped turn the team around by winning five games, winning two more games than the entire Thompson era. His first win came during the season opener against Duke. During his second year, he won seven games, making East Carolina bowl-eligible for the first time since the 2001 season.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
