You didnt even see the play then, he didnt get beat for a touchdown, his man stayed on a short route to keep jenkins close but jenkins read it and tried to get back to the tight end. His man wasnt the tight end, go watch the play again. He almost got there too, it was the linbacker who was in coverage and the safety went to the left on the pump fake.

also, i think this years D will send a high number of players to the NFL. namely, selvie, JPP, Allen, Marshall, and possibly several more at least get invited to practice if not drafted

It looked like they went cover 3, which means Mike has the deep zone on that side. SS and the three LBs take the short zones and the 2 CBs and the FS take the deep thirds. If that indeed was the call, Mike was beat bad by a TE.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The Cowboys were in zone coverage. Jenkins did not have a single man he had to cover, he had an area. Yes the safety bit on the pump fake. That doesn't change the fact that Jenkins let a receiver get behind him in his zone.

lol at trying to say what they were running, you have no idea. Like i said, go watch the replay. He didnt go back for DEEP COVERAGE. If he had deep coverage he would have instantly went into deep coverage and came up for a tackle if needed. He stayed short and recognized. The only reason you even saw jenkins is because he was fast enough to make it look like he got beat.

It doesn't take an NFL coach to know when the defense being run is zone or man-to-man coverage. It's as simple as telling if the offense is running a pass play or a running play.

Like i said, go watch the replay. He didnt go back for DEEP COVERAGE.

That's the point. He got beat deep.

Gruden broke it down at halftime.

The Safety went to the wrong side of the field and the person covering the receiver stayed short.

Jenkins broke off his coverage of the sideline receiver to try and catch up to the TD catching receiver when the pass was thrown.

Haha good job breaking down the defense, Dallas should hire you. I think you should watch the replay.

I don't know why you think it's so difficult to distinguish between man coverage and zone coverage, but if you can't tell the difference then you should probably just not talk about it.

If the Cowboys were in man coverage, the safety couldn't have bitten on the pump fake because he would have been watching his man instead of the quarterback.

That last sentence wasn't said by Gruden. Yes, the safety bit on the pump fake, which created the one-on-one matchup the Panthers wanted on the outside with Jenkins. And Jenkins got beat. It wasn't entirely his fault, as the safety also made a mistake, but Jenkins still got beat and tight coverage would have prevented the touchdown.

The Panthers have clearly made attacking Jenkins a major part of their game plan on offense. That play was designed to get Jenkins isolated on the outside, and it worked and paid off because Jenkins couldn't cover it.

All Gruden mentioned is that Delhomme did a good job of looking Hamlin to one side. If you send both slots deep, Hamlin has to pick one side or the other to help out.

Freeze your replay right as the show Rosario's route and snap the ball. The LB over Rosario is in tight, the other two are in the middle and the SS is up in man coverage on the slot opposite Rosario.

At the snap, the SS flattens into the wide zone, the two LBs in the middle spread into the middle 1/4s and the other LB drops back into the other wide zone (but not as quickly or as wide as he should).

Jenkins begins to backpedal to cover his deep 1/3 while the other CB and Hamlin slide into their 1/3s. Jenkins makes a slight hesitation on the outside WR as he squares in at the 20 and then retreats realizing that the deep 1/3 is his responsibility. Too late, and Rosario is past him. I think Mike hesitated because the LB didn't move to his spot quickly enough. That caused him to react to the square in more than he should have.

If it was a man defense, Mike is the only one who played man coverage on that play. The way everybody else slid after the snap was traditional Cover 3.
