Congrats to Tampa for your first time making the playoffs... it is all but guaranteed now.

Manny Ramirez's stormy relationship with the Boston Red Sox appears to be over.

A baseball source has confirmed Ramirez has been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, ESPN.com has learned.

Jason Bay is going to Boston as part of the deal. And the Pittsburgh Pirates get four minor leaguers as part of the three-way deal.

With Rasner in the rotation?

The Sox just ruined their season all to get rid of Manny.

They need bullpen relief and get rid of a early 20s guy who throws 98 and Moss?

get rid of 3 and pick up one player.

You cant replace a bat like Manny Ramirez.  Rays will make the playoffs.  Yankees will win the AL East.  Rasner will be out of the rotation when Pavano or Hughes come back, both recently made single A appearances.

That is pretty much my thought... except the pavano part... if he is in the rotation for NY, the Rays will win the east.

You're pinning the Yankee hopes on Pavano and Hughes?  Yikes!  They should keep Rasner in the rotation.

The Yankee rotation is a mess.  They have one good SP, Joba.  He's never been in the rotation during a pennant race.  Neither Mussina nor Petitte are the pitcher they used to be.  Either one would be a nice middle of the rotation guy to stabilize a contender.  Neither should be a #1 or #2 for a contender.  Rasner and Ponson are both getting by with smoke and mirrors.  Rasner is already shaky, and Ponson's ERA is over 6.00 with the Yanks, which is about where it should be.  Hughes made it past into the 5th inning in two of six starts, and hasn't pitched in the majors since April.  Pavano has pitched 11 innings in three years.

The Rays counter that with Kazmir, Shields, Garza, E Jackson, Sonnestine and Price and Neimann in the wings.

All of this wouldn't be too bad for the Yankees if they still had the best offense in baseball.  But the Yanks have only scored 35 more runs than the Rays in 90+ games.

The Rays need to score more runs, but the Yankees don't look like a serious contender.
