A lot of good ones to be had.  Don't count us out of the OJ Murdock race, but I doubt we win this one.  A few speedsters in the Tampa Bay Area that will start to emerge and could become big targets.  I think we get at least one big name in Murdock, Johnson, or Carroll.

Cape Coral (Fla.) wide receiver Taurus Johnson currently claims four favorites, but who is he kidding. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder, who owns offers from Florida, Iowa, South Carolina, Georgia, South Florida, Central Florida, and Clemson, has his heart set on only one school.

“My top five is the University of Florida, South Florida, Clemson, and Miami,†stated Johnson. “Florida stands out though. I like the coaching staff and the players. It’s a good school education wise, too.â€Â

Johnson, who has both camped and unofficially visited Gainesville, is so sold on joining the Gators 2005 recruiting class that he has the next few months planned out all the way up to his verbal commitment.

“I talked to Coach [Ron] Zook earlier, and basically he said all I have to do is to take the SATs – which I will this coming September - and visit [the campus],†remarked Johnson. “I’ll take the SATs and take my [official] visits then commit. I’ll probably look at other schools though, but Florida is my main school.â€Â

On his way to All-Conference and Second Team All-State honors, Johnson pulled in 40 catches for 839 yards and ten touchdowns.

Scotty Spurrier 6-1 180 lbs. Leesburg, VA

I've seen him also listed as 5'8 in this article which was previously posted:

Spurrier's son considering USF

By Times Staff Writers Times Wires

------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------

TAMPA - Talk about a big-name recruit.

USF is one of two football programs being considered by Scotty Spurrier, the 16-year-old son of former Florida and Redskins coach Steve Spurrier and a senior at Loudoun County High in Leesburg, Va.

"I've been a fan of theirs for a while, and I was born down there, so it'd be like a homecoming," said Spurrier, who led his team with four interceptions last season while also starring as a running back, receiver and return specialist.

Spurrier, 5 feet 8 and 175 pounds, and his mother, Jerri, attended last year's USF-East Carolina game in Greenville, N.C., and Scotty has attended USF's summer football camp as well. He said the only other school he's seriously considering is Marshall, whose coach, Bobby Pruett, was Spurrier's defensive coordinator in Gainesville from 1995-96.

Loudoun County coach Pat McManus said Spurrier could line up on either side of the ball in college but said his best talent might be returning kicks.

"He's hard to tackle, and he's just an awesome return guy," McManus said. "As far as South Florida goes, he's been to their camps, and he has a great interest in the school. He knows he wants to head south for college, and he's very interested in attending USF."

The Bulls have another face familiar to the Spurrier family. Running backs coach Carl Franks played under Spurrier with the Tampa Bay Bandits and served as an assistant on his staff for three years at Duke and nine more at Florida.

actually, I think Taurus Johnson could end up being a Bull, and I still got hope for OJ Murdock.  Both want UF, but with Louis Murphy already in the fold, and they've got two top notch out-of-staters already with UF in the top 2.  Also, Reggie Nelson will be returning to Gainesville from JUCO.  They'll probably take 4 possibly 5 WR's in this class, but after Murphy and Nelson it's anyone's guess.

If they land a few big ones and hold off of Johnson don't be surprised if he jumps at the shot to play with us.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
