Loosing J Julmiste from the line (for good) and C Robinson at LB/DE (for the season) took this defense from a potential top 5 ranking to a top 25 ranking.  We will definitely see a dropoff next year, but USF is a defense manufacturing machine.  Give Wally and the boys time and we'll have a better D than this in 1-2 seasons.

3 big east teams marched down field on us

our defense needs to improve

Funny how Smazza didn't have much to say when we were 6-0, but now that we've lost 3 in a row, here he is to face the world.

The players on USF defense this year may be one of the best we will see in some time to come.  It is rear that a college team has two shutdown CBs, a solid MLB, and a good DE all in one season.  Did USF just squander what could be one of the best defenses they may have for some time?

hardly two shutdown corners

they didnt shutdown underwood of rutgers

these guys are overrated

Are you serious? Underwood miraculously broke out of a McKenzie tackle for his huge TD...other than that the Rutgers passing game was pretty inept that game.

I thought Trae W was a bit overrated coming in, but IMO he has lived up to the hype.

The defense has done its job, maybe, maybe at Uconn, there could be some blame, but look at it this way; the defense is what enabled us to beat WVU & Auburn.  Last year and the year before those would have been two losses.  Our defense is predicated on speed and against 1/2 the teams we play that's great, but at some point, we need to size up that interior line.  Its like the Bucs defense; fast but worn down easily against the North & South running teams.

If we have speed at the ends and LBs, why can't we push to recruit some big, slow interior guys who no center can move.  I saw in TBO, we have an oral committment from another DE who is 6-5, 220,or something like that.

Correction, yep... I know... we beat WVU last year but you know what I mean.  Auburn would have been a loss.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
