I still say that the star system is a joke.  We get 2 and 3 star players who I believe are as good as any other player.  It does send a negative message.

Lets not go ripping into these guys because they do work very hard trying to get as much info about the recruits they can.

Is the star system a good gauge of ability? No.

If you want the top 100-150 "surefire" guys look at that list, in most cases those guys work out well (You'll always have guys not work out). However, guys get overlooked for whatever reason all the time, so seeing guys like Claude Davis as a 2 star can be very deceptive.

Oh I forgot you are the master of recognizing talent and winning. You are clueless if all you go by in determining if a guy has talent is 5 stars!

The problem is that there isn't a correlation between talent and number of stars, which was the point of the post.  There are many around here who don't seem to understand that.

I think on a regular basis its safe to say that a 5 star recruit like Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin are going to be total studs in college.

You also have to remember that most of the analyzing takes place at summer camps like the Nike Football Camp etc.... which you have to invited to.

Tebow a stud? Maybe at fullback. The only game that he dropped back to throw a pass was against a winless 1AA team. Lets wait til he has the reigns before we declare him a stud: IE Grothe.
