Losing SJ Green and Ean Randolph isn't that bad considering USF averaged, I think, 7 or 8 "receivers" per game this year. A couple games Grothe hit more than 10 people with passes. Also while Benjamin Williams is technically a returning starter, both Ponton and Plancher will be competing for the starting job -- if Ricky can avoid the chronic and Moise can come back from a knee injury. They mentioned that the WR corps were deep enough not to drop off. Also correctly pointed out that there are big shoes to fill at LB. At RB, Williams has to be considered a returning starter, though I haven't figured out why he's still starting. All in all, I thought they did a good job when they have 119 teams to evaluate. wwwINSIDE99net Posted December 8, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 3 Content Count: 7 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 12/08/2006 Share Posted December 8, 2006 Thanks everyone for visiting NationalChamps.net. I am the owner of the site and received an email from E.T. here and thought I would stop over to see what was being said about the Bulls. My editor and I both agreed with the USF pick at #25. A few on our writing staff also concurred. Yes, this is very, very, very early...why we call it Early Bird. We attempt to stress on every page that these breakdowns are not a "where all be all" Top 25 prediction. We are most concerned with letting people know whom the key players are coming back and leaving with each team. We have cut-offs with the depth charts. I am aware USF utilized many WRs. But we only list players that have garnered starts and/or met statistical levels with this early release. As an example, once you get below Bleakley on the receiving stat chart (8 rec.) we usually won't list the rest until our full preview comes out in March. We operate this way with every team. I am aware of the knee injury to Plancher. We took this into account with the ranking but wished to avoid listing all the injuries with every team. I went ahead and added him to the depth chart given what was said here. But I think the success USF had given the disparity at RB says much.I was at the WVU game and came away thoroughly impressed with Grothe and the whole defense. We always pick a Dark Horse at #25, which ultimately means not everyone will have the Bulls starting here. Dark Horse does not necessarily mean long shot, but certainly outside the averages. I suspect the preseason polls that do come out this summer should have USF somewhere between #21 and #40, of course depending on the poll. But it is a positive start to a new future here. All AP/Harris Poll voters, FWAA media members, Radio stations, University ADs, etc. get a press release of our preview releases. The Dennis Dodd's and Stewart Mandel's of the college media world do read our stuff. I think people are starting to take notice, even without us having to push the Bulls though. Should be a great off-season full of promise. Best of luck and best wishes to everyone here this holiday season. Good luck in Birmingham.Todd HelmickOwner & OperatorNationalChamps.net
