I could care less what the Gator fans or any call in radio show is saying (i don't listen to sports radio). The experts, and people who do matter in the media, cite the SOS of the BE being affected by OOC opponents.

Just looking at the rankings this week, the media/coaches obviously didn't think BE teams beating each other was a sign of weakness in the ranks. The BE has 3 in the top 10 in the AP (over 1 loss teams in the Big 10 and ACC) and 3 in the top 12 in the Coaches' ahead of the 1 loss team from the ACC.

I don't think I've heard that argument Shoop. I think the argument against the BE is that they have no great OOC wins.

Maryland, K-State, Kentucky, MTSU, Ohio and Navy are our only OOC victories that are bowl eligible. Not exactly the list of teams that will prop the BE up.

Those 6 teams all were victories by the Big 3 in the conference.

That list, as a whole, is more impressive than the SEC's OOC wins ...

The experts, and people who do matter in the media, cite the SOS of the BE being affected by OOC opponents.

So all you go by is the print media?

Nah, I watch some Gameday, etc. I do read a lot of the print though.

We shall see, I think WVU is going to beat Rutgers, which will make it all moot anyway. In the end I think WVU will be the BE representative in the Sugar Bowl this year. With Rutgers possibly making a trip to the Orange Bowl if UF wins the SEC.

Do you happen to know the SEC's list?

It would be interesting to know for comparison.

he just said no Big East team should play for the National Title.

this is accurate

no BE should play for NC

the big east top dogs simply didnt play the schedule that deserves a crack at the NC

where is that list?

sec doesnt need a tough ooc because their conference is so tough

tenn beat cal who far is better than anyone big east teams beat

arkanas lost to usc but they get style points for trying

big east teams dont even try to schedule tough opponents except ul who tried with miami

i look forward to seeing thAT LIST bbc!

I just looked at an sec standing and went through the teams and looked at their ooc schedule, didn't find a list although there may be one somewhere ..

That's not the argument right now.

tenn beat cal who far is better than anyone big east teams beat

The Tenn win was better than any BE win BUT that's why I said the BE ooc wins were better "as a whole". The BE wins were better based on number of bowl eligible, going by Joe's list.

i look forward to seeing thAT LIST bbc!

When I get a chance, I'll go back and pull them out if nobody finds a ready made one.

Ok, here's the sec ooc wins over bowl eligible teams:

Central Michigan

California

Washington State

Hawaii

I'll be generous and call it a push ...   8-)

Keep in mind that the SEC has twelve teams, for a total of 48 OOC games.  So, that's only 8% of the games that were against bowl eligible teams.

I think Florida played So Miss and they are bowl eligible.

Yes, the SEC has 12 teams but they play an extra conference game.

8 * 5 = 40

12 * 4 = 48

I agree the SEC's OOC wins are not great, but they still have a few good games left and the teams that are still contending (Arkansas and UF) have played pretty hard schedules.

If Alabama was the 1 loss SEC team near the top they would be getting the same love Wisonsin and not as extreme, but as Wake Forest. See Auburn 2004, even the SEC is penalized (as they should be) for bad OOC schedules.

Had Louisville not lost there would be no question, had WVU not lost there would have been an argument, but they still would be in Glendale. However, Rutgers is going to need help and a lot of it.

Edit for Math: Thanks MikeB, been working on this project for work all day, my brain is shot right now.
