last year he:

1. lost a winable game at miami

2. let WVU come from behind to win

3. let USF  ;D surprise him with a spanking.

big time coaches win the games they are supposed to, then take advantage of all opportunities.

so far so good this year he has:

1. beaten miami

2. won at WVU (taken advantage of their miscues)

now can he avoid the letdown or breaking under the pressure of expectations

RU is a should win (UL clearly has more talent)

usf they will be favored and at home

pitt they should be bigtime favoured, but it is an away game

uconn different planet and at home

if he does not go 4-0 with this schedule, with a NC appearence on the line, can he be considered a great coach?

This is not a flame but a legit question, when he lost the miami game last year i said he would grow from that and become great.

I am a usf fan and hope we win again.

I am also a BE fan and would love for UL to go to the NC and WIN. Petrino has the offense and moxie to pull it off...i hope he takes care of his business and takes his opportunity, theses donot come around every year.

If he beats Rutgers, us, pitt, and uconn, they deserve the title bid.  Their SOS will take a tremedous leap forward with this backloaded schedule. If only UConn weren't there  ;)

wv will beat ru but if ru manages to beat wv they should not be in NC game

current rankings for big east team are generous

Petrino has never been a great big game coach (3-6 v. ranked teams all-time)

He redeemed himself v. Miami and WVU, then craped the bag by not correctly preparing his O-Line for a defense that has run this same scheme against UNC and USF (the two Rutgers games I've really watched).

Winning AT #3(for WVU), and AT #14(for UofL), is not the cakewalk you make it out to be.

You obviously think the BigEast does not deserve to be ranked very high, but I want to know who could stroll into either place and be considered the favorite.

As for Petrino, he's young.  He learned a lesson Thursday, and hopefully he'll be better because of it.  Keep in mind that UofL is just now (the past couple of years) starting to get big-time talent.  This year alone will double the value of a scholarship to Louisville in the eyes of HS kids.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
