South Florida … The Bulls came up with a fantastic game against the Connecticut rushing attack holding it to just 60 yards, while Matt Grothe was nearly flawless running the offense. As long as defenses are worrying about Grothe's running, the passing lanes will continue to open up. On the down side, 15 penalties for 113 yards were way, way too many. While being in the Big East title hunt might be asking a lot with the big boys still to come, this was an important win to get in a bowl hunt and have a shot at a top three finish if everything breaks right.

Connecticut … It's a simple issue for Connecticut; if the running game isn't working, the team probably can't come up with the win. Matt Bonislawski and the passing game simply weren't effective enough against South Florida, and it's not going to be nearly strong enough to handle teams like West Virginia and Rutgers in the near future. Terry Caulley was keyed on by the Bull defense, and he had little room to move. UConn won't win many if it only cranks out 60 rushing yards.

South Florida QB Matt Grothe completed 12 of 15 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown and ran 15 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns in the 38-16 win over Connecticut.
