USF MEN’S SOCCER

USF Battles No. 15 Cincinnati to 0-0 Draw

CINCINNATI, Ohio. (October 7, 2006) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team (6-4-3, 3-2-3 BIG EAST) battled the No. 15-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats (8-3-2, 5-2-1 BIG EAST) to a 0-0 (2OT) tie on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Gettler Stadium. Playing in their second-consecutive overtime match, the Bulls held the Bearcats scoreless for the first time since 1998 and snapped a six-game winning streak for UC.

Goalkeeper Dane Brenner tied his career-high in saves (8) en route to his sixth shutout of the season. The six shutouts in one season ties the High Point, N.C., native’s season best. The clean sheet also marks the first time this season that the senior goalkeeper has recorded back-to-back shutouts (following Wednesday’s 1-0 blanking of FAU).

The Bulls were led offensively by sophomore Jordan Seabrook, who tallied fours shots (two on goal) versus the Bearcats.

The draw snapped a two-game losing skid at Cincinnati and moved the Bulls’ record to 1-1-2 versus ranked opponents this season.

USF will head home and host the Stetson Hatters on Thursday, Oct. 12. The game will be broadcast on Fox Soccer Cannel and will kick off at 8 p.m.
