Keeping in mind we were playing against a pretty high ranked 1AA team, here is how a few other teams playing against 1AA teams fared on defense:UCONN vs. Rhode Island (4-7 in 2005)....293 yards/1 TD vs 1st team D, another dropped TD in end zone.#24 ASU vs Northern AZ...(3-8 in 2005)....312 Yards/ 2 TDsUCF vs Villanova........(4-7 in 2005)...322 Yards/ 2 TDsI'm not sure what it all means other than I think we played a pretty good game on D considering the youth. It took them a quarter (where they didn't give up much) to figure out the offense and then they shut them down. Until Burnetts BIG hit they were playing a little flat - emotionless - but they were still stiffling. I love the defense. Always room for improvement. I'd be willing to bet we didn't show them all of our looks and I wasn't playing close enough attention but, I don't remember seeing a lot of blitzes. After Burnett's big hit, it sure seemed they D kicked it up a notch.

Guest R_to_the_izzo
THe dline didnt get pushed around at all. All of their yards came from them over running the QB and giving him too many lanes. A few missed tackles gave them a little more than they should but I think those missed tackles wont continue to be a problem

They do need to work a little on tackling and assignments, but it was the first game. I can't even count how many time there were helmets on the field from a hard hit. If I was an opposing coach, I would be worried about how hard we hit, especially if it's the QB.
