Big East schools don't accept nonqualifiers, and McCray, who averaged 15.6 points and 14.1 rebounds at Sanford Seminole last season, can sign at any Division I school that does.http://www.sptimes.com/2006/08/15/Sports/Gator_guard_has_broke.shtml

What message does that send to student athletes?

More than likely she will have to go JC route.

She also cannot receive a scholarship at any NCAA school. She can attend a school that accepts non-qualifiers on her own dime, then play next season as a sophomore. She can get that first year of eligibility back only if she graduates within four years.

Actually, the letter of intent is now null and void -- once you're deemed a non-qualifier, you're not accepted into the university, and doing so voids the letter of intent. And yes, USF still has a great recruiting class, especially in the frontcourt. Five other recruits will bring a lot more depth this season, and the transfer should be a boost for 2007-08.
